| | I'm new...Anyone from the Oklahoma City metro area? < on 8/10/2006 6:29 AM >
| | | I have been taking pictures of abandoned houses for 4 years and doing photography for 6 years. I live in the Oklahoma City area and find most of my sites outside the metro area and farther. I have also explored areas of Texas and New Mexico. When photographing abandoned houses I use strictly black and white and only use my manual cameras.

| | | My first Internet experience, a BBS for Commodore 64 users, no joke, that was about 1989 or 90. Around 1990-91 I got online with a real PC that Dallas Fire Dept was throwing away via a guy that hosted a system router out of his home down in Red Oak. Wasnt much on the World Wide Web back in them days... Ok enough from old farts reminiscing back to your regularly scheduled Oklahoma thread... | | | I had my C64 hooked up with a 300 baud modem back around 1984 or 1985. BBS boards were the shit. I also loved that basic programing on C64's and Apple IIe.....

| Hello Angelique, i'm greywolf45. I used to live in OKC for 5 years, but i got tired of the city, and moved back to my dad's home town . I had a chance to UE the storage buildings for a small railroad line known as the Interurban Line, which ran between OKC, and Guthrie, but security there was so tight, i couldn't get anywhere near the place.I have the locations of the storage barns, and the shops for the Interurban Line. when i find my notebook, i'll send the info to you in a PM.

Well if you do any exploring when you get to OKC, be careful of the cops, and some security. They're friendly, but not that friendly.

Yeah, I know. The ones in Tulsa liked to stop me and give me traffic tickets.

So do I. But to me, its all one big metro, even though I know they are legally and technically separate cities. Us Norman people should do something together sometime. I'm on Lindsey... and there is a building of some sort under construction not more than stones throw away from here that has my curiosity up... I am thinking New Years eve would be a good day to infiltrate it... construction people surely wont be working on that day. [last edit 12/29/2006 5:50 AM by minusonebit - edited 1 times]

That information is here. Or, go check something out with someone who is already a full member or otherwise prove you're worthy, and they can recommend you. As a matter of practice, I wont recommend people I haven't met.

| | | Hi blaistom77, Read the info that minusonebit gave you in the link. To get full membership, probably the two most important things are (1) have a "post" history and pictures that we can see and (2) explore with someone that is already trusted. They can then give their input into it. When you apply for full membership, list me as the "Requested Moderator" to handle your application. Otherwise you'll end up getting a moderator that doesn't know the South people and you'll probably get denied. The main thing is, you MUST have someone that we trust who then trusts you.

Find a site on your own and then find someone who is a full member to go with you. Or invite yourself to someone else's little gathering, in the unlikely event that they post about it before hand. Most people here do not seem to post asking for partners. Go find a site - even a lame one - and do it. There are at least three in Norman I can think of right now... well... two now... they just bulldozed the one on Lindsey before I could get to it... you know, the old campus housing by the tracks? Even a normally lame site can be cool, its all in how you present it. Find a unique prospective on a site and lay it out for us. Oh yeah, and hit me up when I have more time to actually do non-work related things. Edit: Or, just go here and you can explore all kinds of shit with people and have more than enough sites and experience to earn your stripes. (Can non-full members see the events section???)
