Been working on composition and closer focus today. I think these are better than the ones from the other day..

1) Old wagon

2)

3) Close-up of rose

4) My daughter, the explorer

5)

6)

7) Birdbath

I know there's more than 6, but oh well... Critique away!

once again im new here and i dont have any say. but if it were my shots i would have more emphasis on the black and white. I feel its too grey. Maybe a little levels adjustment would do the trick.

The light outside today was weird and couldnt get the gray to go away.. so i just kinda dealt with it.. I'll try tweaking it later.. Thanks for the comment!!

Im not really drawn to the first three, but The picture of your daughter is very cute. I absolutely love number 5 and I like 6 as well. As for the last one, I think the bird bath could have been more in focus.

I was going for the birdbath to be out of focus.. lol.. I'm working on the closer focus because back-focus has been a prob for me in my last couple of posts.. that's why it is.. and my daughter was just about to get into an ant-bed and I was afraid I had broken my camera because I dropped it on the steps; she's a cute MESS!!

I like them all, but the black and white doesn't work with them all too well in my opinion, I prefer a lot of colour, they look like they should be depressing photos or like past photos and stuff, but I don't think they are. Meh, just my humble opinion.

ok so here is my opinions...

first of all what kind of camera are you using?

second i think that 1. 5, and 6, are really great. but need some contrast work in photoshop or something similar.

also these photos could use some unsharpen mask work to help with the detail.

Other than that i think that these three are leaps and bounds better, and i am excited to see your progress.

Great job, keep up the good work.

I'm using a 2 year old Canon Powershot A75. I have a few more from today on my moms new Kodak. Hers is a 7.1 megapixel digital.. So i'll get those up later, probably tomorrow.

Thanks for being interested in these!! If you're ever in Bama, PM me and we'll meet up and explore around town! ^_~

Now that I think about it, the black and white goes very well with that picture..you're right.

I'm not mad at all!! One of yours is still my desktop background, and all my friends have complemented it! I'm not worried about mine getting stolen by any means... ^_~

Yeah, the wagon was mine when i was little and now my daughter enjoys it. I was going for the 'memory' look, like you would look at it if you were a small child laying in the yard.

I'm so glad I'm getting great help with these. I think this will help me with the photo shoot I have coming up Wednesday. It's for a local band here in B'ham, and I haven't ever done anything like that before. I take pics at shows of them, but apparently they think I'm good enough to do some for their press kit. Maybe it's because they're all my best friends, but oh well... If you guys wanna check those out, their myspace is www.myspace.com/sorrowofherevil The pics I have done are credited to me on the pics page. I may post some from the shoot on here just to get opinions. It'll go in another section, but I'd like for you to see those as well just to see what other photography I do. But again, thanks so much for the kind and helpful words!!

I had a couple of pics from my mom's camera but I didn't change the pic size settings, so the compression ruined them... I'll have to fix those.. in the mean time...
this one was with mine.. used unsharp mask on it and a tiny bit of saturation. Thought I'd add some color to the set!

the only one that high contrast works for is the wagon.

cropped out blown highlights, and extra out-of-focus space on the bottom.

Yeah, it does! It makes you look at the splinter that took 6 tries to focus right on.. LOL.. I appreciate that!
