| | | A recent exploration of yet another abandoned mall... it was very nice. Pretty colors, nice architecture and all that stuff, complete with dead plants.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

| | | Sweet! Malls are so much cooler without people in 'em.
I'm a blatant waste of time and resources. |

| | | If I recall correctly, the sunken area that is now a stage used to be an ice skating rink, in the '70s or early '80s. I love skating rinks at malls, but it seems to be bad luck for the mall owner (RIP Prestonwood, Tandy, and this place). The Dallas Galleria is the only mall I can think of in the Metroplex that has and ice rink and is still around, but they're a special case. (but wouldn't *that* make a great abandoned building....) Lots of memories at this (unnamed) mall. It was home to the last Montgomery Ward we frequented before they went the way of the dodo. The theater was the cheapest (both in cost and quality) in the AMC chain, so we went there frequently until dollar movies undercut them. The Dillard's outlet was a marvel of disorganization during Christmas. And as it entered its death throes, the obligatory slightly-smelly pet store moved in, snakes and all. Only had a chance to go there once after they tried to become an flea market (a hopeless attempt, competing against the biggest outdoor flea market this side of Canton just a mile away). Is the one section still criss-crossed with a maze of chain-link fencing? That was where the flea market stalls were set up.

| | | I haven't been in this place in years. After it turned into a flea market I went once and never went back. I may have to check this place out soon before it ends up like Big Town. Thanks for sharing!

Well, it's no wonder. It had all the emptiness of an abandoned building, without the threat of arrest!

| | | Thanks for sharing. I went to this mall all the time as a kid, and I hated to see it go the route of a flea market. Have you posted any more interior pics? I'd love to see more. Thanks again.
