A retired retirement home...
< on 11/3/2006 4:21 AM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

Built in the 1920's...
Used until the late 1990's...

I apologize in advance for the poor quality of some of these pictures. I found that the camera I use to take pictures with likes to take bad pictures the more I use it. ( I so need a new camera...)

1. On the outside of a bathroom door...

2.

3.

4.

5. This picture was laying on a pew in the chapel...

6.

7.Not a very good picture, but shows how pretty the glass in the windows in the chapel are...

8.

9. The date on this newspaper says Oct. 20, 1967

10.

11.

12.

13. The main dining area... A.K.A. Really fancy cafeteria...

14.

15. Some of the rooms were like hotel rooms. They had a full kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. This is the dining area of one of the (suites?) rooms...

16. Old can opener and bottle of grape juice. The juice was not opened.

17. An old mixer?? The kitchen was pretty neat.

18.

19.

20. Very blue...

21. I didn't touch anything to 'stage' it for a picture. I only took pictures of things how I found them...

22.

23.

24. The beauty salon...

25.

I have more I will post in another thread.

Nice pics! Dokk and I were there Sunday. Did you find the tunnel? Did you see the "house rules" sign?

Nice find. Very good pictures. The newspaper was dated 4 days after my 7th birthday.

It is VERY clean. The only graffiti we saw was a tiny kitty-looking face on a stairwell. It was so clean, I felt like someone would be coming home soon. This is one of my favorite places. I love it.

Yes, I saw the 'house rules' sign. I got a picture of it, but didn't want to post it here due to the contents of the sign. What tunnel??? We saw the basement, but never saw a tunnel.

Nice job! For what you say is a crappy camera you made up for it with excellent framing. A good camera would make these excellent.

I am praying that no one defaces this place. There is so much history inside... its beautiful. I heard from some of the older people at my work that they will be tearing it down (Except for the main building) to make way for new places. *sigh* I hope it doesn't happen...

Thank you! I do my best with what I have. Natural light works best. I have more pictures I will probably post in another thread. The thought of a new camera makes my mouth water...

Fortunately most people won't know what it is, much less where it is. That's the beauty of there being like ten gazillion places to see.

What exactly did I post that gives away the location? I thought I was very careful as to not post anything that might do exactly that. This place is beautiful and I wanted to share the pics, not the place.

I wouldn't be able to figure out where this place is. I think you did a good job of keeping it a secret and also of dealing with your limited equipment.

Thanks. I have pictures of the outside of this place as well that are awesome, but I decided that even that might be enough to give it away. I went over all of those pictures very carefully 3 times just now... still can't figure out what supposedly gives it away. *shrug*
