| | | Posted by mavrix id assume yes, mason streat has something to do with masons.. and also tunnels. thats why its called mason street. just marking territory. |
Yes, it's clearly at the centre of a pentagram connecting the Parliament Building, Government House, Blanshard Park, Cedar Hill and, ah, the Safeway at the intersection of Fort and Foul Bay Road. Except if the tunnels form a pentagram then there'd be nothing underground at the centre of them. And the buildings on Mason Street are from the turn of the century or later. And there are Mason Streets in a goodly number of other cities around North America and the world. There's a Mason Street in Melbourne, Australia, but you can bet that if there were esoteric black magic tunnels to be found there, the Cave Clan would have uncovered them ten years ago. the key to solving this mystery is thinking back in the old days, not in the present. |
The key to "solving" this mystery is clearly to assemble as many random bits of information, twice-removed from any sense of context, point to the pile and declare from three time zones away "Thare Arrrr TUNNELS Tharrrr!" Bonus points if you've never been to Victoria in your life.

| EXACTLY. Maybe every Mason St. is connected through this vast underground tunnel network. Maybe I can actually get from Mason St.in Victoria to a Mason St. in London England. That would be nice. And it would save me from having to deal with those shitheads at Air Canada. Which would be super.

| | | Mavrix implored please explain your spider magick |
I'm standing on the pavement, a lamppost tracing the sky just above Mars, a few people milling on the bus platform. At this late hour, the route we need is only due every twenty or thirty minutes. We haven't looked at our watches, we haven't looked at the schedule. I stand on the pavement and raise my head to the planet, red-tinged light being plucked into streaks as it runs down our atmosphere, streaks that straddle its little puddle of sky like a crane fly on the living room wall. I imagine the crane flies in my hair, just above my ears, I feel a spider on my shoulder, I begin to chant a handful of random syllables that have risen to my throat at this moment, varying the order and intonation as I repeat them. And while I'm doing this, I'm moving my upper body so that the lamp post eclipses the planet and then retreats, again and again for a minute or so. In my mind, I ask for a bus. In my mind, I visualize the bus at the intersection behind me, where the lights usually force it to stop before crossing to turn into the bus loop. And at the end I think my thanks and bow my head a couple of times. When I'm done, no more than a minute later, I turn around and smile at my friend on the platform. I take my first step back across the pavement and glance to the entrance, where the bus is just pulling in. There was more reality there than you've managed to produce in fifteen pages of nattering about secret tunnels in a city you've never visited.

| | | What I truly cannot believe is that there are some explorers of worth in Vic and nothing can really be found. Some tunnel pix easily explained, and... ? Having lived there myself for 3 years in the early 90s, I heard all the same rumours and looked around a bit myself, but nothing. I just can't believe that if there was anything of substance to be found that you guys wouldn't have found it by now. Maybe there was something, long ago, that is no longer there. Happens with many things, be they natural or man-made. Sewers, drains, a tunnel or two, a coal chute and maybe a criminal activity or five. Add many years to the recipe and here we are. If they are filled in, nothing can be proven. If they are drains blown out of proportion, then we can seen that. If they are just little bits here and there, we have almost proven that. But, the big question is, what is everyone looking for? Does anyone really think there is some massive pentagram tunnel system used by and international Bush-loving Satan-worhsipping cannibal cult? Only Mavrix thinks that... But let me ask Kubla and Tanuki and the others, what is it you think you actually might find? In all seriousness. If the question can be properly formed, then the answer becomes easier to find. With all the crazy rantings and odd suggestions, never mind the occasional tangent, we seem to have gotten away from specifics. Why not clearly define the objective? Then list the potential evidence to date. That should lead to a hopefully productive next line of investigation, yes? As I said, I lived in Vic, I looked for the tunnels. I am fantastically interested in what might (or might not) be there. But I think people need to get back on track and start putting their heads together. Bickering and name calling don't help, nor do otherworldly ravings. Let's have some facts! P.S. Being a Mason, you guys put WAY too much into it... old guys and beer seem to be the main point. If there were goats or anything fancy, I'd be the first to tell you ;)
