Maryland meet up

Would anyone be interested in going to a Maryland meet up? I've seen a lot of people on here from Maryland. I wouldn't mind organizing one if there was interest. I'm in Baltimore, by the way.

I was thinking monthly meet ups, like at a coffee place or diner? Maybe go exploring afterwards if people felt like it. I guess it probably depends on what day of the week it was held. I don't know, what do you think would be good?

Double T on route 40 has always been a standby for us in previous trips. Pretty good, cheap food.

As for a meet-up...I have a few days left in the area. Any ideas? Something original.

I've heard double t diner was good. It would be best held on friday or sat. nights i think. Or maybe a nice coffee shop somewhere(everyone into coffee or tea?)or we could even meet somewhere in annapolis, like the mall or something, and just walk around, and have dinner and stuff. or waldorf. or D.C.

just some ideas

If you're going to Double T you could always just walk across the street for a quick Enchanted Forest look around (before going anywhere else that is)

I think hes talking about the Double T on route 40 and Rolling road. It's nicely centered between a lot of cool spots.

I live half the time really close to the Double T, so I'd definately be up for some form of meet up there.

I think the 21st sounds the best. The 7th may be too close, since I sort of have plans this weekend and other people may already as well.

What do people think of January 21st at Double T on route 40 and Rolling Road? I've eaten there before and it was good enough, although the tiramisu was kind of shady. It's ok though. And what's a good time? 7:00? 9:00?

I'm always up for a trip to Hell House. I've never been to Henryton but I'd love to go. I haven't seen Enchanted Forest in a bit, so I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like now. I think this Double T is a great location for the first meet. Lots of possibilities.

One thing- I'm fairly new here, and would not be able to recognize the people with whom I'd be intending to meet up.

I just joined today. I live in Harford County, MD, just northeast of Baltimore. I've always loved this sort of thing - exploring places normally unseen by most people. I have a little experience, albeit nothing like some of you, probably. Back in the late 1980's (in Michigan) a group of friends and I heard about a place called The Parma House. It's about 15 miles south of Lansing (near Parma, MI, hence the name) and we decided to check it out. Armed with flashlights and and a shitload of fear we piled into a friend's Chevette and headed for the woods. We found the house and subsequently discovered the excursion handed out much more than we bargained for. There was a main 2-story house with a basement that was in bad disrepair, but easily accessible. In the back of the property there were 2 huge old dairy barns, complete with underground tunnels connecting them to each other and the main house....and the tunnels probably went further, but we never made it through all of them. We were certain that the tunnels were somehow connected to the Underground Railroad era, and spent a lot of time scaring the shit out of each other and discovering lots of cool old items. Needless to say, it was more of an awakening for me than the others as I still love this type of thing. As far as I know the house still exists, but I could be wrong.

I also lived in rural central Kansas for about 5 months when I was about 20. My friend, Jason, and I learned of The Hott House through his brother, Jim. It was in a desolate part of the county outside Salina, surrounded by forest. It is by far the creepiest place I've ever seen. There was a main house that had been damaged in a fire many years earlier, and the top floor was sans-roof, exposing the entire floor to the elements. We discovered animal carcases (sp) that had apparently been used in some sort of sacrificial event, and other very creepy things, not the least of which was a partial skull. We never determined what the skull belonged to, but it was still unsettling. A night visit to the site unveiled a sense of haunting, and there were noises we could not identify. The story behind the house was that apparently the Hott family had been murdered there by a crazed man who had a grudge against the family.

I don't know anyone else that gets into this type of thing, since most people are scaredy-cats and don't like to venture outside the "norm" of everyday life, but I happen to love it. The sense of adventure is exhilarating, intense, and yes, even educational. Yeah, I'm the type that watches Discovery Health for the vivid surgical shots full of blood and veins, but not because I'm a sick-ass - I'm just curious. I don't let the fear of the unknown sway me. If there's anyone else out there that wants to get together and check some of this stuff out with me - please - let me know. It's been years, but I'd love to get back into it! I can't imagine the immense possibilities Baltimore City has to offer in terms of abandoned warehouses, buildings, etc. The place is a virtual architectural graveyard - much like Detroit. So someone, please, hit me up! Thanks.
