Hey guys this is eel, aside from my intro this is technically my first post so forgive me if I do any formatting/other stuff wrong. I'll drop this imgur link here: http://imgur.com/a/WLmAanG before I tell the whole story just because I like to talk (or type) a lot. I put a little description on each pic btw

After doing a shit ton of research and finding absolutely nothing of value (Idaho moment), I stumbled upon a particular location that I wanted to check out (which I knew for a fact was abandoned). I met up with my buddy and him and I took the long way there in order to drive through a couple towns with relatively low populations. I had noticed some relatively decrepit buildings scattered around on google earth and wanted to check them out before going to our final destination. no dice. we eventually get to the building and it's pretty cool looking, 50s art deco style exterior, but we couldn't get in as every viable entrance was locked.

There's a storage unit across the street from it that's falling apart so we checked it out, there was some pretty cool stuff in there like photo albums and creepy dolls but I don't think it warrants its own post. My buddy and I are pretty disappointed though because we drove around for like an hour and a half just for a storage unit. While we were walking around the area we had noticed this big ass factory and even though we heard some machinery humming we figured we'd walk over and check it out. I 100% expected there to be workers there, but as we started checking out the area (which was MASSIVE) we didn't see anyone. Later on we saw a single work truck driving around which naturally made us shit bricks, however any time he drove by we'd just get super lucky. I won't bore you guys with a ton more details but here are some quick highlights.

1. There was bird shit EVERYWHERE and my buddy and I didn't have any sort of masks, in the dome building we found some n95 masks still in their packaging, but we realized they were musty as hell

2. In the computer room my friend looked out the window (2nd floor) and saw a dude walking right outside, we dipped from the room as quickly and quietly as possible. Turns out he was the driver of the work truck, which was parked inside the main building on the ground floor. We kept exploring after that, just a little more cautiously.

3. In one of the buildings I had walked up the stairs and noticed like 6 dead birds, obviously i'm like "what the fuck" to my friend, then we see a "WARNING: carbon monoxide poisoning this floor" sign and sprint back down the stairs at mach 5.

Wrap up: inhaling bird shit not good (still 100% worth it though) my friend and I had mild coughs for like 3 days. The factory is a treasure trove and we're going back Sunday with a couple more dudes (they're not goobers and have done some rurex with me before dw), we spent 5 hours exploring and still haven't seen everything yet. I'm making sure to pack adequate gear (gloves, masks, flashlights, etc) now that we know what we're exploring. So far this factory is definitely my magnum opus of finds, no cluster of farmhouses compares to a whole ass factory. If I see any more cool shit on this next trip I'll probably make another post on it next week.

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

What an awesome find, some really nice pictures in there. Definitely bring masks next time but they won't save you from any CO in the air. That may be an old sign from when machines were running because there usually needs to be something producing carbon monoxide. If you want to be safe though, you can rent a CO meter for relatively cheap. I got one when I went to Centralia PA just in case as the coal still burns underground.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll definitely grab a CO meter for future excursions to anywhere industrial. I actually found out that a section of the factory is still active on my 2nd trip there that i'd like to explore further so it would definitely be a reasonable investment.

First off, thank you guys for the warm welcome also thx dundertits for properly sharing the imgur link, I think I finally figured it out this time around.

Anyways, I took another trip to the factory. Of course i've gotta tell some stories, but here's the pics first. https://imgur.com/a/8WhGzfj

I went with 3 friends including the same buddy I went with last time. The other two guys were less than cautious (they're a little younger than my friend I initially explored with and I) this definitely made my cortisol levels go through the roof but we were fine and we made sure they didn't mess anything up. This time we were able to explore pretty much the whole factory.

Highlights:

1. As we were checking out a building that definitely showed signs of use (equipment, company shirts etc) we hear a siren that sounds exactly like an air raid/nuclear siren from the movies. It's insanely loud and we assumed it was because we were there. I don't think i've ever ran so fast in my life, but we ended up hiding on the top floor of one of those dome-ish buildings for about 30 minutes. We brought radios to go full LARP and when we reached the top one of our radios went off and we heard a female voice say "Hello?", which scared the shit out of us further so we turned them off. We were able to determine that the siren wasn't coming directly from the factory but it definitely gave us a good scare.

2. We were able to get on the roof of the main building (see pic 2) and had snacks and drinks up there, very comfy . In order to get on I had to push a pretty heavy metal slab off of the ladder hatch whilst a good ways up from the ground though, which was a little spooky.

3. After checking out every unlocked room in the old factory buildings, we headed over to another building which we assumed to be in use. We got a good look around some offices and loading bays, but we decided to leave the building because we could hear a truck running outside. I definitely plan on going back though. I'd eventually like to climb the smoke stacks, I haven't yet due to high visibility but maybe i'll give it a shot sometime when its dark.

It's possible the place is only mostly abandoned or sees limited use. I once went to a quarry I thought was abandoned and walked around for an hour until I saw a truck heading my way. Turns out it was just shut down on Sundays. I explained I was taking pictures for an art project and I was let off with a warning which was super lucky. Turns out the abandoned location was nearby but not where I went.

Glad the return trip worked out for you. Stay safe out there

This place looks like a fantastic explore, and according to recent reviews on google maps, still very active!

I'm assuming that only a small section of the facility is in operation.
