Nope, as of 2 months ago, the city decided not to renew the airsoft lease and tear everything down. Not sure if the buildings still stand, but airsoft is gone.

http://www.cqbchal...uncement-covid-19/

1.Wooden Barracks still standing as of yesterday!!
2. Stockade has been demolished.
3. Abraham’s Duplexes still standing, about 30 of the 250 to be demolished.
4. Remaining Hammerheads still standing.
5. Campus Town moving forward, includes demolition of Hammerheads, POM, multiple buildings on Colonel Durham to be demolished, including old snack bar and church.

On Friday I found 2 of 4 bunker type structures that I have discovered through research. in the backcountry. They are few hundred feet in length, 10 feet high, concrete wall on 1 side and dirt berms on the other side. These are free of modern day graffiti. Probably because they are overgrown with lots of poison oak in the area.

Cool thing is one of them had graffiti from servicemen from the 40’s and 50’s.

Sad to see more and more disappearing here! My first ever explore and the reason I got into this hobby started here! Since then I stop by from time to time to reconnect with my roots. Those bunkers sound pretty awesome especially with the old solider's tags. It's amazing with how much this property has been explored, there is still places unseen! Would love to see some photos of that!

Could this be the same Frank Gentile who signed the wall. https://journaltim...-9991ad4c1263.html

Wow, just wow! These are awesome! Love how untouched these are! If you ever wanted someone to join you on a return trip I would be honored! Thanks for still keeping this spot alive through out the years, even with all the demolitions, you have proved there is still things to see in a disappearing and gone through location! Keep it up!

Not having seen them first-hand, my semi-educated guess is that they were firing range (rifle range) backstops.

These are great! I think Talisman has some shots of these from 2014. They are exactly the same condition! Good to see some secrets still exist at Fort Ord.

Does anyone have a web page for the professor at CSUMB who was doing a study of the murals? There were a few news stories about it maybe six or seven years ago..maybe longer. He was doing it as a legit project, but I never saw any follow up.

I love that old 50's graffiti! I spent countless days wandering around Ord, but rarely ventured too far out into the woods. I'm assuming these structures are out a ways from the main ones. I found a few hidden underground enclosures to the east (whatever you call those camouflaged enclosures with a small hole you stick a rifle through and shoot out of), some small training and ropes courses (in addition to the better-known ones), and a couple other unknown structures over the years that were graffiti-free, but not too much to speak of.

Fort Ord is a place that has a lot of meaning to me beyond simply enjoying the explores. I have a lot of memories tied to that location and it saddens me to see more and more of it disappear.

I wandered till the stars went dim.

Thanks for sharing the bad news, and great photos. It's sad, but hey, maybe at one point, an abandoned Native American wigwam once sat where my warm & cozy house now is -- I'm glad they tore-down the wigwam and I'm here inside the house...

And don't forget, any T-#### building designation indicates it was constructed using Theater design & materials -- a perceived need/life-expectancy to not exceed 10 years (otherwise, a Permanent construction/design would have used brick & concrete), so it lived a lot longer than expected...

Thanks for sharing this find--I remember reading this post of yours a while back. After a bit of research, I was able to pay a visit too! The notes from the servicemen were exciting to read. Unfortunately one of the bunkers has been vandalized a little bit more since you posted, but thankfully it was not the one that contained the signatures. And regarding the third structure, a friend and I ended up finding it, but it was overgrown with poison oak and I wasn't too keen to be wading through that. Maybe that one's an explore for the colder months when the poison oak loses its leaves.

/-/ooligan speculated that these were rifle range backstops and from the documentation I found it looks like that's right. I'm impressed that you could tell just from a few photos.

Anyway, two photos of the one with the signatures:
