I have worked at reducing the load I carry, especially if I know it's a difficult mine. Depending on the situation, sometimes we will tie our bags to the ropes and pull them up. Other times we climb with them on our backs. Mo
This is typical:
Compass, whistle, jeweler's loupe, toilet paper, backup headlamp, spare batteries, dust mask, gloves, small first aid kit, water, plastic box to keep lunch from getting squished, 50' of 1" webbing, a couple of carabiners, a flashlight, assisted opening pocket knife, and my helmet.
If we are going vertical, add personal climbing gear, rigging gear, and rope. Lots of rope.
