Love the cat food idea.... On my list it goes! Thanks!!

Speaking of the cat food thing, cat rescue has become a big thing in abandoned neighbourhoods, and when I look at relevant hashtags, a huge amount of the pictures are about cat rescue.

Yesterday I was wandering through an abandoned neighbourhood, and I saw a huge tomcat on the steps of an abandoned house. I managed to give him a can of cat food, and while he was eating a bunch of random people came by. It turned out they were part of a local government-run TNR program that is active in the redevelopment zone. They said they caught the tomcat's friend yesterday -- here's both of them, with the one I fed being orange. They baited a trap with my cat food, so hopefully they catch him before he impregnates a dozen abandoned female cats. I might end up volunteering for them.

Now do the part where you cover your hands in Vaseline before wearing said latex gloves lmao.

Im curious as to what practical purposes that serves? Especially when you already have work gloves.

Why on earth would you cover your hands in Vaseline and rubber gloves when regular work gloves are better protection and better insulators? It seems pointless.

The answer is situational just like respirators filters. I have 2 kinds of respirator filters. Depending on what the situation calls for, depends on what ones I choose to use.

Some places there is no point in having decent work gloves on and latex ones are better. Furthermore latex gloves don't get affected if they get wet. On top of that should water get into the gloves between your hands the Vaseline will repel it and any contaminates that could be in the water.

As for work gloves being better insulators than Vaseline and 2 pairs of latex gloves, that is not always true either.

Spend time in enough excess time in cold weather, you'd change your mind about it not having a practical use. I've had plenty of people in your position who had the same questions and view points all change their mind.

Lol I would love to see an example of this.

Sorry but latex gloves dont offer any protection at all and covering your hands in vaseline is just dumb. One it picks up contaminants and holds them, two it makes your hands slippery so in case of a fall (like on your grappling hook?) Your hands would certainly slip. Probably right out of your latex gloves if they even held up without being shredded at all.

Vaseline on the inside of a latex glove doesn't effect the grip of it outside, and as far as latex gloves not offering any protection, the entire health field will disagree with you.

My question to you is what is the level of your reading comprehension? Because you're not making much sense.

All I said was Vaseline is an insulator, which it is.

The fact that you took what I said about Vaseline, and then went ahead and applied it to climbing, and using a grappling hook, shows that you have very little reading comprehension...Either that or you're just a troll, and I've been trolled by you.

For the record Vaseline is an insulator

Since you cannot keep things that obviously don't belong together separate from each other, then I suggest you stop exploring, never mind giving anyone any type of advise because you're going to get yourself or someone else reading your tripe, killed.

Lmfao. Are you for real dude? This coming from the guy that got on the discord channel and admitted he just bought his grappling hook on amazon a few days ago and it hadn't even come in the mail yet, And you're already a grappling hook expert. 😂 Also the guy that tried to argue law with a cop. And climbing physics with someone who actually climbs. Also the guy that thinks he's the first person to ever do 360 degree urbex videos. Newsflash: Type in 360 urbex into youtube and see what happens.

Tried being nice but holy crap am I going to love reading whatever posts you have up your sleeve for this site lol.

But you aren’t working in a hospital or anywhere that it’s needed lol. Covering your hands with Vaseline and putting rubber gloves on them is actually quite hilarious. I’ve been exploring for a long time and have NEVER slathered myself with Vaseline to go explore lol. Regular gloves such as mechanix, baseball gloves, or any kind of tactical glove with the hard knuckles works. Hell I even wear cut off finger bicycle gloves sometimes just for climbing. I think I wore rubber gloves one time and that’s because I was in a poop tunnel in Prague. But please continue.

Lmfao. Are you for real dude? This coming from the guy that got on the discord channel and admitted he just bought his grappling hook on amazon a few days ago and it hadn't even come in the mail yet, And you're already a grappling hook expert.

It's quite Interesting how everything you're trying to use as an argument to make me look bad is either false or you're changing what was said.

Lets takes this apart shall we...
So according to how you think, and your reply, anyone ordering something on Amazon which hadn't come in the mail, means that person HAS NEVER EVER had that item already and has not ever used one. Also love how you left out the part that I said I ordered one because I needed to make a safety video on that model.

Next we look at those whole arguing with a cop comment. First off it looks like you're saying you are a cop which i highly doubt, Impersonating law enforcement even over the net is a crime so you might want to be careful on exactly how you phrase what you say. Anyone trying to say they are a cop as if it gives them an edge is an even bigger idiot. Cops do not MAKE LAW nor do they have any say on a court ruling.
All I said was neither one of you know how to argue in court. Apparently that was too much for you to handle.

Also once again Vaseline is an insulator is all I said. Furthermore you clearly want to keep arguing about it by going out of the realm of it only being used in SPECIFIC situations and trying to say keeping your hands from freezing is a joke and no one should ever do it. After all your whole statement is because YOU personally wouldn't do it, somehow it's not viable for anyone at all for any reason. Not sure why you keep trying to argue that Vaseline is not an insulator when it's a proven fact it is. not sure what uses you're trying to use it for, but then again you're not too tightly wrapped.

Just from your replies alone and what you're downplaying, you wouldn't last 1 week out in the arctic. When you get some real survival skills then come talk to me about what is and isn't a joke.

Now all address the climbing physics aspect.

You were too busy trying to throw your weight around as a bully to stop and see what was actually being talked about because here you are again saying something not even related to what I was talking about.
The only thing is the way strain works is continuous puts less wear on something than continuous jolting. Not sure why you kept going on and on about how you descend/ascend when that wasn't even the discussion.

Now I will clear this up
Posted by AdventureDanthinks he's the first person to ever do 360 degree urbex videos.

Except that's not even what I said. Instead of being too busy running your mouth and making crap up, you would have seen me explicitly state that I am not aware of anyone else doing that, and neither was anyone else I talked to. So it was only to the best of my knowledge. I never stated I was the first one. I even said I would have to reach out to him to possibly get some tips after it was mentioned.

Now I'll address the troll who point blank says that latex gloves provide no protection at all. Saying they provide no protection at all is just a dumb statement as I already corrected them on. Now they're changing their story to they only protect in the medical field..not anyone else.

Saying latex gloves provide no protection is not only stupid but false. Trying to use the medical profession is the same as the other troll using the whole arguing with a cop as if it has any merit and validity.

Apparently neither one of these trolls can accept they don't have a clue to what they're talking and cannot handle being wrong which is why they are constantly lying and taking everything out of context and then putting into other topics where they have no business being.

Both of you need to quit lying and get yourselves educated. Also other people on this forum are correct about both of you, all you do is argue, you don't actually contribute anything useful, and you act like you know what you're doing when in fact you really don't.

And I'll be taking the advice of some people that have messaged me and not engage in conversation with either of you any more.

You guys have never heard of Vaseline and surgical gloves? In Canada every winter, we slather up our hands with Vaseline and then slide on a pair of latex gloves, then we coat these with more Vaseline and slide in another pair of gloves. Works better than leather or any other kind of gloves. These days when you go to a sporting goods store, all they have is Vaseline and latex gloves, no need for other kinds. A little slimy, and there are a few deaths every year from people who can't open the front door to their house.

LOL that was actually amusing. Not sure how anyone wouldn't be able to open the door to their house as the grip from the gloves wouldn't be affected due to the Vaseline being on the inside of the glove but hey.

But all seriousness, how did what I said in the video which is
It should by theory insulate, I don't know how true that is, that's just what I read.
get turn into the trolling mess the 2 jackasses have turned it into?

I also never said I actually did it either and yet somehow that turned into I did or was doing it.

The trolling element that I really love is when one of those asshats took whole Vaseline and latex glove as an insulator and combined with someone climbing with a grappling hook and using a grappling hook in a way it should not ever be used.

Had I known there were going to be people with 3rd grade comprehension levels where common sense should apply, Looking back I could have said it is and should only be used in extreme situations...But they probably would have found something else to argue about.

The runner up trolling element is the amazon comment. I didn't get the model yet so that means it's my first one ever and I somehow have never used one before. Oh yeah not too mention they claimed I was an expert. (Even though I never said that) they did.

The level of sheer stupidity, trolling, and just blatant ignorance that went into what the both of them did is outstanding. I also can't help but to think it's people like those 2 as to why warning labels on products are needed.

BTW the cat food idea mentioned in this topic is interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind.

Okay, so let's say for some reason you can't drop $10 for work gloves. In that situation I'd still regard no gloves as a better option than latex and Vaseline.

Vaseline ruins latex, hence why you never use Vaseline as lube with latex condoms. Second off, you now have Vaseline on your hands, which is messy and will get everywhere and pick up contaminents when you try to change your gloves. Thirdly, your hands might slip around/out of your gloves since covering your hands in lubricant will affect your grip when climbing- and I know you didn't say anything about climbing and Vaseline together, but the situations that require gloves and the situations that require climbing are far from mutually exclusive- quite the opposite in fact. Lastly, Vaseline and latex will always be a shittier insulator than proper winter gloves or insulated work gloves- believe me, I'm from Wisconsin. I know what winter exploring is like.

And I haven't even gotten into the problems with your "grappling hook seatbelt" setup. Your advice is pointless at best and dangerous at worst, and either way it's bad advice. Research is no substitute for experience, and all of us with actual experience are telling you that work gloves will always work better.

Alright guys, after having my inbox flooded all day with testimonials of the effectiveness of Vaseline and latex surgical gloves in relation to exploring, i've decided to set my pride aside and try it out for myself. I'll be conducting some field tests and then get back to you guys with my findings.

Also due to the coronavirus outbreak, flight ticket prices are at an all time low.
I might just jump on a plane out to the arctic to better understand this ancient eskimo survival tactic.

I prefer to go backpack free when I explore. For couple reasons. Primary reason is because I want to look as little suspicious as possible. And what I assume people will think if and when they see me exploring with a pack is that either I have spray paint inside it or am stealing shit. So 9/10 explorations I go pack free. The other reason why I prefer going back pack free is it makes climbing easier. Less resistance on my arms. Also when I carry a pack I find myself stressed dealing with all the extra junk I am carrying worrying about not losing anything.

I do have a nice gap button black coat I love. Its got two zipper side hand pockets and two chest button pockets.

I always carry my wallet in my left pants pocket. My phone in my right pants pocket.

Baby Tripod in the left hand pocket of my coat. (Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod)

Construction fabric padded gloves in my right hand pocket of my coat.

Head light before it broke, yet to replace in my left button chest coat pocket. Energizer HD cheapo like 20 bucks.

Spare camera battery/flash in my right chest pocket.

24oz reusable plastic Water bottle clipped to belt on left side of waist.

Fujifilm XT2 with most often weather resistant 35mm F2 lens with comfortable padded neck strap around head and right shoulder.

Granola bar behind wallet in left pocket.

Often toilet paper with me.

Two Beanies on my head

Last but not least car keys in my right back pants pocket .
