Okay, I finished midterms today, and got to go 'splorin' today. A friend from school just got a new 20D and wanted to test it out so we went out the the ghost town again. Man, that was a mistake. There were hella mosquitos all over the place. It was truly miserable, and that's saying alot for a guy from the mosquito capitol of Texas (Houston). Strangely, we weren't alone there either. The gate to the powerplant was open and there was a truck inside the gate. We walked out of view and after a while the truck left. Hmm..I thought the place was abandoned, guess not. Oh well, I saw a way onto the roof. But I think I'll make it a night job. And I still haven't shot my new camera cause I still haven't gotten my meter from the store yet. Bastards.

The reader (supposing there are any) will notice that in the absence of having the time to explore, this journal will become more blog-ish and mundane. If only Av would code some crap so that yall can see what music I'm listening to whilst I type this like the good blogs out there.

Listening to: Pedro the Lion
Current mood: Diligently sleepy

Beltran/Backe for President in '04!

...nevermind that Beltran is too young and not US citizen, and Backe is also to young...

And the Sox won. What a great day.

I just spent 4.25 hrs cheering for the Astros only to have it end with a walk off homer by Edmonds in the 12th. I coulda spent that time studying for my final on Friday. Now I'll have to watch game 7 tommorow and miss another 4 hrs of study time.

Where to begin...The 'stros lost last night. That was bad enough, but I was watching it with a bunch of haters who were rooting for the Cards only because I was rooting for the 'stros. Then I took my final this morning; holy crap it was freaking hard. I shoulda spent more time with the books and less time watching baseball. But I found a reallllly good mexican place on the blvd today for lunch, and now I'm sleepy.

I went back to the ghost town tonight, except this time I was alone 'cause Steven had to work. I wasn't there very long, maybe half an hour, on account of the cows. Normally cows don't scare me, but when it is dark and they are all moving about and I can't see them till I'm right up on them....that's when I'm scared of cows. So I only took 3 pictures before the cows started getting brave and getting closer and closer to me. And I took the pictures in RAW mode (something I've apparently never done before) and now I can't get my computer to read the damn things. So I dunno what that's all about but I hope I can find someone smarter than I to resolve the problem (That shouldn't be hard though).

Fire up Canon's FileViewerUtility; it has the capability to convert RAW files to TIFF. Should have been installed when you installed the Canon software.

Next time we meet up, I'll show you how to work dcraw. Or I can tell you now, although the process you have to use becomes much more complex (but produces better results).

Thanks Servo, I'll give that a whirl. I went out there again last night with Steven. We also saw the most redneck pickup truck in the world at walmart on the way there. It was so awesome that we were told to stop by walmart by our friend Felix. I'll post pics later. I also got a speedin' ticket on the way out there (84 in 65) so that kinda sucks but I was due for one anyway. Oh, the cows were out en force this time, but they aren't scary when there is someone else there, in fact we were scaring the crap outta them. We also stumbled onto some cool machinary of an active oil field back behind the town, so that just means there's still more to explore.

Though, in all honesty, I think it may belong to Stanley Marsh, since his place is literally about a 30 second drive from this Walmart.

It's snowing here like crazy. I'm not going to class tommorow. I live down hill from the school. I have a pickup with rear wheel drive. I won't be getting up that hill in the ice. I like writing ridiculously short sentences. Because I'm boycotting commas. So with every new thought, I start a new sentence. (<---except that over there)

Old and busted...school. The new hotness...Dallas. I can't wait till Friday, I'll be done with school, and I found a couple old farm houses really close to here that look pretty nice.

Some dickasspoon just woke me up, knocking on my door to make sure I had a deadbolt, a bar on my sliding glass window, latches on the windows, and a working peep hole. I was having good dreams too. Dang and I just realized I got ripped off on my nappage...My alarm clock in my bedroom is an hour ahead, so I was thinking I got a 2.5 hr nap, but I just saw on my comp screen that it was only 1.5 hrs. That sucks. I'm getting tired again. Finished my law exam today. Yay. Now just one more test, and they have to drag it out allll the way till Friday. Yeah, I'm going back to bed.

Now I'm sitting and waiting for the UPS truck dude to come and bring me my light meter so I can go shooting my MF today.
