Personally I’ve considered it a lot when I end up carrying around my ‘holy trinity set.’ A superzoom is a lot handier than a 14-24mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm all f/2.8 lenses. If this is hired work, I wouldn’t do it without a backup camera IMO. Keep a shorter lens like a 24-70mm f/2.8 (or even a 50mm f/1.8 or equivalent) on one camera and a 70-200mm f/2.8 on the other. But that’s also why you see serious outfits bringing in second shooters, etc.

Spot on. Save yourself money and aggravation, buy the right lens the 1st time.
Get fast glass...
The 28-300 is too slow and has too wide a range to expect much in image Q.
The bokeh will suffer terribly as well.
The 70-200 f/2.8 IS is Canon's -best- zoom, get it.
On a wide frame cam all you really need is a 24-70L and a wide lense to form a complete all around high Q shooting set. You could get by on a wide frame with only the 24-70L and the 70-200L.
