I'm guessing this place has already been posted but oh well. I went alone the first time just to check the place out, then a week later went with just two friends. The second time we ran into two groups of workers (I guess they do maintenance or something as it's definitely not in use). We hid from the first group and ran from the second before they saw us. It was pretty intense for what was probably my second ever abandoned place explored.

Ah yisssss. Love this place but be careful- there's some nasty holes and caustic pools that can really ruin your day. It's being "cleaned up" so there's plenty of eyes on it (not just the clean-up workers but private and public security alike).

There's quite a lot of history at these falls...

That spot is like in my top three favorite locations that I have explored in All of America so far! Love it! I've been there I think close to 8 or so times now.

1.

2.

3.

4.

I got like over a thousand shots of the place but here's just a couple ^

Honestly I didn't make it inside the site till about probably a year after starting exploring so very nice job getting in only your second abandonment ever!

This is one of my favorite places. Every time I go there I find something new. It's so huge! Nice pictures, I'm glad you had fun. Definitely always keep am ear out and be careful going through large open areas though. It's secured and still regularly worked on, as you found out.

I pass this place almost every day on the way to work, been skeptical of going in after the mugging stories. Glad I can see what it's like through these pictures though! Once I get a respirator (laugh all you'd like, haha) I might go check it out with some friends.

You don't really need a respirator, most of the buildings are very well ventilated. No dots, broken Windows, etc.

What's the deal with this place, accessibility-wise? I've seen security every time I've passed by. The only people I know who've been in wore waders and circumvented any land-based POE. As far as I know - if we're talking about the same paper mill - they still do legal tours and guard it pretty well otherwise. Did you all have a hard time getting in or what? I've been too chickenshit (and wader-less) to try.

Some kids recently operated the fish rake and damaged both it and the fish ladder so they have stepped up patrols. This is why we can't have nice things ya'll.

... Dam those kids ... f*cking ruining the fun.

uLiveAndYouBurn those are epic photos! They make me want to get my a*s over there right now. But nope. I miss this place! I mean it still exists but since it recently was purchased there has consistently been security and I am afraid of security ;-(. Well there are signs on the front entrance fence that say to call X number for a tour. So maybe I will actually do that in the near future. You guys will know if I do and it turns into something. Here are some pics from one of my last trips.

PS crossing my fingers they develop this side of the falls and make it awesome! I'd love to go with my family and non UE friends and just kick it right up to the falls "like photo 1)" but you know like during daytime and with other families and people enjoying a nice summer day picnicking and admiring the falls. Hopefully that becomes a reality soon! Yes it would be sad if they removed all of the mill... If only they ACTUALLY were to do an epic job preserving a butt load of the mill structures and just decked out the interiors with restaurants and shops. That would fill my heart with love.

3.

PS Your second picture is insanely good. Might be the best photo I have seen of the entire area. Sort of makes me jealous.

I have a 18-55mm lens which I would love to shoot with more. Just it is not weather resistant and it's also much heavier and bulkier to lug around. Especially when you roll back-pack, free like myself. But I hope to give another shot at these pics with it soon on a dry day. Of course on a tour . These were shot via my 35mm about 50mm equivalent.

Post the snow pictures. Snow looks very sexy in the Portland area locations.

This wasn't even a UE spot. I took it during last snow season and it looked awesome.
