| | | It's possible to get a full membership without doing the meet n greet, but it's more difficult. I never met up with anyone until after I received a full membership due to various circumstances, and I still got it. My first application (submitted after 3 months) was denies, and the lack of a meet n greet was specifically mentioned as one of the reasons. My second application (2 years) was accepted, though I probably could have done it in as few as 9 months or so. The meet n greet requirement is primarily so that other explorers can vouch for you. By seeing how you act when you explore, any full members you explore with can either endorse or denounce you during the application process. This is a much faster and easier way than watching as you post explorations and participate in community over time. Basically, it's not impossible or even uncommon to be granted full membership without the meet n greet- just expect it to take a while longer. And hey; good things are worth waiting for, eh?

| | | Posted by the kip Hello, I'm currently attempting to check all the boxes for full membership. However, I'm a bit iffy on the requirement about going exploring with another member of the site. There are other members in my area, but in general I'm a bit on the fence about revealing my identity/meeting up with someone I met on the internet. I'm a rather private person and usually only go exploring with immediate family or close friends. Are there any other ways I can be verified by moderators?
| Listen to BlackHawk - he's a straight shooter and he's shooting you straight here. I'm new too and the way I look at it, its ok if I never get FM status. I'm here to learn from the FMs and if they decide they wanna take me in the inner sanctum one day - that's awesome, but there is much to be learned just here on the forum's. Imma brand new newbie and I read a LOT of the threads - there's a treasure trove of info there. All that said - I AM a newbie - so ignore everything I said ( ) and just do what people like OG BlackHawk says. Good luck kip - I hope you find some cool people to explore with and learn from!

| | | I was here for a couple of years before I requested full membership. I never met with anyone else, I just tried as best as I could to be (and continue to be) a positive presence here. I think that is one of the biggest things if you want to obtain FM. I also wrote a nice note when I was applying and appealing to the Mods to grant my FM. Honestly I was surprised a bit that I was accepted, as I wasn't sure that I had "ticked the boxes" so to speak. It has been a honor and privilege to be a FM here, and it always has the understanding that at any point it can be taken away. So I do my best to like I said, be a positive presence. Its kinda like being "handed the keys" so to speak. So in short, just do your best to contribute, weather its just complimenting someone on their explore, or putting up some info about a spot your found. Or if you can meet up with someone too, obviously that helps. I have tried to branch out more in the last few months with some members, and haven't had a bad experience yet. If you are not sure, just continue to contribute, make a FM request, worst they can say is no, but like it says in the FAQ that isn't cause to stop trying for it. Hope this helps.
