Completely unplanned day trip to Montgomery.. which I've never been to. Started off waking up 4 hours late and made it into town around 2:00 with no idea what I was looking for. Ended up with 4 different buildings, multiple ticks and decided to take a swim in a rooftop pool because "no roof access" apparently means "open me because there is actually a pool up here", so heres the day:

Very cool!

What an awesome story for the next generation, eh?

If the sign says "no", it actually means "welcome." haha

Nice. Every time I see pics from Western Railways it reminds me I need to get down there and check it out.

I tried finding any information on this place and failed, do you know of some?

Ahaha, no. Tried to find the tallest hotel in town and at the top of the steps it claimed "no roof access" but there was no alarm and it was unlocked.. turns out the door lead straight to the top and the hotel pool.

Very cool set.

I always worry about ticks because of lyme, which is prevalent in my home state of New York.

Use a permethrin repellent instead of deet (or in combination?). It does great on ticks and will kill them too. I've seen people use deet go with people that used permethrin, the deet people wound up covered in ticks and the permethrin people had none.

I see, I misinterpreted the above statement to mean you took a swim in the rooftop pool of the building you were exploring...

Thanks! I don't typically have an issue with ticks sticking on me? Any ticks I've ever found haven't latched on yet in which I just flick them off. My brother claims its because I drink too much or I'm the antichrist so who knows. But I should look into repellent regardless so I appreciate the tip!

So your revised post now reads:

Ended up with 4 different buildings, multiple ticks and decided to take a swim in a rooftop pool because "no roof access" apparently means "open me because there is actually a pool up here", so heres the day:

So you went exploring, figure out you had ticks, and went swimming in a rooftop pool....

I'm trying to picture whether or not this rooftop pool was an abandonment or not. Moreover, I'm trying to picture why you would decide to go swimming - abandoned rooftop pool or not - after discovering you had ticks.

I can only conclude that you are one badass chick.

If by badass you mean inconsiderate and rude by cleaning off 6 hours of sweat and dirt in a hotel's nice roof top pool - we agree.

Shame to dilute other peoples sweat and bodily fluids with her own. Now they will have to tear that building down. Shame they haven't invented some sort of pool filtering system to remove contaminants or chemicals to sterilize the water so more than 1 person can use a pool ever.

It came up after this exploration. Because of all the livestock, I had a good dozen on me, with three or four needing removal and the rest in my clothes, shoes, etc. They don't care about deet.
