My last post was a medical facility so fresh and untouched that the lights were still on. This goes to the opposite end of the spectrum, an asylum that has been abandoned and well known for long enough to be the stomping grounds of every natty-lite drinking, penis-painting, arson-burning, vandalizing, ghost-hunting red neck in the entire state. I'd imagine before the 2004 fire this place would have been half-way enjoyable, but nearly everything is so destroyed that nothing is recognizable. Those interested in the history of this place, I did some research to find that there is not much out there but I have a write up on my blog for those interested. And here are the shitty photos:

Wow I love this place! You can almost taste that stale decay smell you get from these old abandonments. Beautiful set and great job capturing the feel of the place!

If I remember right, the smell was more the smell of rot, that was burnt, and then rotted again.

ah. I know this place. Haven't been there yet.

Here is the other facility on the same plantation as the older 1920s asylum. This opened in 1976 around the same time as the other asylum closed. It shut down in 2003 leaving everything on the site for the entertainment of urbexers far and near.

Someone made a youtube horror series based on slenderman called Marble Hornets. It was reasonably entertaining and had many millions of views across the 80 something episodes. I was wondering where the hospital they used for the shoot was; now I know.
