Not long abandoned, the exterior is more impressive than inside, but still a great explore. Lots of cameras, but no electricity. If you find this place, bring mosquito repellent! I plan on going back for a longer visit, and I wanted to bring a tripod next time, these are just some rough shots I took while wandering around.

Nice shots, digging 2 and 10. Did you make it to the top floor with all the algae growing?

Glad you got in before all the scrapper and taggers did. Someone needs to preserve this while we can before it loses that "fresh" feeling. Exterior shots would be nice. I love watching nature take over these structures.

A company here in Atlanta apparently bought the space and is planning to repurpose it. When I was there they had the whole plans for the building mapped out on the gym stage. Some sort of office space and presentation place

Thanks guys. The plans for the place are still in the gym and there is still a sign that says "construction in progress" but no signs of any construction yet. I did explore all the floors, but definitely making a return trip soon to spend more time.

Honestly, with the architecture being so similar, I'd love for it to sit 5 more years and turn into Gordon 2. The whole time I was there I was picturing trees coming out of the ground, haha.

They've got a lot of work to do. Some areas are terribly water damaged. Especially in the bottom floor. Hopefully we'll get to watch it decay some more! I guess we'll see

Wonderful location! Schools are a favourite of mine.

Certainly interesting to see, as most of the schools we get on here are in rather poor shape. Great to have something fresher, that has been seemingly untouched by vandals.

God, what a rapid decline in such a few years. They’ve began preparing the grounds for restoration or tearing down as of a couple weeks ago. This place is so trashed now, wow.

I noticed the original post was from 2015 - anyone know if they saved any of the original structure in the new building?? I'm hoping those stained glass windows in 11 are intact somewhere!

ATL needs to do a better job keeping our architectural history. There is ZERO reason those windows couldn't have been saved. Maybe someone out there can just say Yes or No re. this. Or you can always PM me.

We are growing so fast in ATL and I'm concerned about just knocking these buildings down with no one recognizing their historical significance. Recent history is still history and these artifacts deserve preservation.

Ok....wow....I got all worked up early this morning......

It looks NOTHING like that now. It’s trashed to hell.

It’s still abandoned. Trashed as shit. The city has recently reboarded it, kicked the squatters out and are preparing the grounds for construction.

Thanks for the update! I can't believe anything abandoned lasted this long
