| | | MAV, I feel that way myself. I think it's that I have faith in the ground, whereas I do not have as much faith in man-made objects. Sometimes I am scared of ladders and catwalks in an almost irrational way: they can be brand new, well constructed, and recently inspected, and I'm still nervous while on them, expecting them to plummet to the ground at any moment. At least the fear is not paralyzing, I can usually steel myself into doing whatever I need to do, but it still bothers me. I do find that repeatedly climbing fire escapes and stuff like that has helped somewhat, but the fear is almost always still there.
