A location that has always intrigued me, a gorgeous mansion that is currently being restored. Explored this place with Mr.Blue and YourMainParadox. A few shots of the place, have a few others on flickr but decided to keep it brief for my first photo post on the forums.

Thank you Went when the sun was starting to go down. I want to take a few more shots with the sun coming up when I get more time. The place has a feel like you are always being watched when you go room to room.

Wow, that place looks awesome. I have to agree with Amish, it's good to hear it's being restored. Nice set of photos as well.

Oh I am having a blast with that little copter. I have a few locations in mind which allows me to get into spots I may not be able to climb into. Plus gives my a whole new look to the location. Learning so much trying to keep it stable, since the little thing is so much fun to fly I just want to spin it around. Waiting on my backpack to arrive so I can take it to more locations without the need of the car (since I carry the thing in a big pelican case at the moment).

Too bad its getting cleared out, that happened to one of the houses here in Atlanta. Untouched for over 50 years, it was a literal time capsule. That being said, it's nice that its getting saved from falling into further disrepair.

There's a time capsule house over near Dallas hwy. I found it about 4 years ago. Not sure if it's still there... will have to check.

Nowhere near "as pretty" as the Florida house...
just a plain old middle-class ranch-style house where all the grown children moved far away.

The wife died leaving the husband to live in misery for another 15 years or so before he decided a shotgun was the better route to follow.

The incident happened around 1995 to 2000. So the house sat there for another 10 to 15 years before I happened across the place while looking for old barns to photograph.

I didn't have any headlights or flashlights. My kids had played with my gear the day before and didn't put anything back.

The house was really nasty. Absolutely positively disgusting. House was completely filled "with stuff" - books / clothing / dishes / utensils... everything a person would normally have in their house... as if someone still lived there - but with dust / dirt on everything as well.

Very heavy / musty smell inside. May sound strange - but the kinda smell that literally sticks to you.

The house was almost completely dark... I had to do long exposures on sticks to get anything at all. I was in there for about 2 hours.

The shock came when I got home and looked the images.

Oddly enough... but there were gay porn vhs / betamax tapes and magazines on and around "the bed". The bed and part of the wall behind it had a massive stain all over it. And then there was this hole in the wall.

There was empty bottles of vaseline everywhere... 100's upon 100's of them.

The video player still had a tape inside. Tons of gay magazine were stacked on the dresser. 100's of them. Some of the magazines were spread open on the bed... imagine this if you must - in a semi-circular / self-pleasuring manner.

If you were one of the few who received and actually watched the dvd I gave out s few years ago... remember the barn with the cow hanging out the window - and the chair with police tape around it - and the old wedding photos ???

That's the house... aka "the Casteel house".
