Took these on a lazy rainy Sunday a while back.

History:
The scenic railway was a 10 mile section of rail that served as a tourist destination. It utilized historic train depots and a section of rail that had been in existence since the late 1800's. It had a short lived life and only operated in the 1980's... It was powered by either a steam locomotive built in 1925 or a vintage 1940's diesel locomotive.

There were 2,593 farms in 1930, however it was down to 507 farms in 1987. It went from 144,495 acres of farm land in 1950, to a dramatically decreased acreage of 62,286 in 1987. This can be attributed to the construction of a dam, and the subsequent creation of a substantial 56,000 square acre lake in the 1960's. The economy shifted, the average businesses changed, the citizens of the county changed. The number of visitors to the lake increased regularly from about 750,000 in 1962 to 9.6 million during the year 2000. The county, and it's cities play heavily into historic sites and the tourism industry. The Scenic Railway was an attempt at it's parent company to utilize pre-existing equipment and properties to take advantage of this shift in the 1980's. Sadly, it's passenger cars now sit rotting... Awaiting the day that a historic society has the time to restore them for display, and once again take advantage of the tourism industry.

Thanks. And nope, since both doors are open and there is a broken door it stays ventilated. The structure is also metal and concrete... So there isn't any carpet, wood, insulation, or a whole lot of anything to break down and smell. The seats, aside from that one by the broken window, look just like they did when it was parked. I also saw no signs of animals taking refuge in it.

Just one and a caboose, but I remember seeing more when I was in college... Unfortunately I don't have the gas money to drive all over the countryside trying to find them again

If you are in FL head to Miami, there are passenger cars there with graf and decay that are pretty cool. Should be easy to google it, it's pretty well known.
