In light of As Above, So Below, the paris catacomb horror movie coming out this summer, I thought it would be rad to get a list of other explorer themed movies going.

How about C.H.U.D. to start this off: https://www.youtub...atch?v=WqDToaLuJ7I

Go!

and hurry up cause I'm bored...

Oh hell yes! Just a few off the top of my head that I've seen...

Session 9: THIS is one that everyone talks about... Haha. Filmed at Danvers State Hospital

100 Ghost Street: Filmed in the "Abandoned" (As in the owners rent it out for movies, but it's no longer active) Linda Vista Hospital in Cali

Hold Your Breath: Also filmed at Linda Vista - one of my favorite horrors, tbh.

Grave Encounters: This one is just stupid, but it was filmed at an abandoned asylum in BC

Part 2 of Grave Encounters: Equally as stupid, if not more so... But worth a look if you like abandonments.

If anyone has any others, Id love to hear them.

Dude! C.H.U.D. rules! Fucking love that movie!

http://m.imdb.com/title/tt1642665/

Urban Explorer aka The Depraved is a German horror flick where the plot revolves around a group of youngsters exploring under Berlin. When one of them is injured, they come across a creepy guy who has set up a home in the tunnels and SHIT GETS REAL.

This is pretty much a poor man's Wolf Creek in a tunnel. I enjoyed it, but I also enjoyed Chernobyl Diaries and . My tolerance for mediocre horror is quite high.

http://m.imdb.com/title/tt1735485/

The Tunnel is an Australian flick about a journalist investigating water supply pollution in storm drains under Sydney. All of a sudden: Monsters! Not amazing, but diverting enough.

http://m.imdb.com/title/tt1594562/

The Innkeepers is the story of two employees winding down the clock on their last ever shift at a soon to be mothballed, semi abandoned hotel. Not exactly urbex themed, but you'll wish you could have a snoop around the place, and it's probs the best of the three movies I've mentioned.

Trespass 1992. Two AR firefighters get a lead on treasure/stolen loot hidden in an abandoned east STL building. For anyone who imagines treasure hunting in an abandonment.....

Still bored, Notquitehuman?
This music video may not be a film, but it is short and quick. Plus, it's related to abandonments, I think. The music is also catchy:

Session 9 was super creeeeeepy. One of those "flawed but still interesting" movies.

Grave encounters was daft but fun!

I haven't seen 100 Ghost Street, gonna check it out.

The Road and Book of Eli come to mind. Urban Explorers is pretty decent too, it was filmed in some old german bunkers under Berlin.

I have noticed so many UE elements in so many movies that it's almost impossible to list. Why? Because UE is cool.

Saw this one recently, lots of UE:

I caught the last 30 min or so of a movie called, "Catacombs". I guess people are partying in Paris's catacombs and a girl gets lost. Anyone seen it?

Holy S., must be based on the true story we know about here in the forums.
One of our members even posted a photo of the girls desiccated remains. I believe it was in Russia somewhere.

this thread appears in one form or another every so often and I always mention this hard-to-find film called "Wavelength" from 1983. It starred Bobby Carradine, Cherie Currie, and Keenan Wynn. The soundtrack was fantastic having been composed by Tangerine Dream. This is one of those rare, low-budget films that was greater than it's parts and didn't ham it up by camping OR taking itself too seriously.
Where does the exploration part of it come into it? hehehe... i'll post the link here and let you figure it out. Running time is right around 90 minutes. One last thing, this film was never issued on DVD, so finding a copy is pretty much VHS only. Personally, i taped this film off of my grandparents' Cinemax in early 1984 and still have the tape despite it being almost unwatchable.

Enjoy.

The Road

I loved that movie.

Pretty much any movie with a "post apocalyptic" setting fits the bill, for me.

that movies was incredibly depressing.
I read the book several years before the film was made and to be honest, the ending felt like McCarthy said, 'meh, i'm bored. fuck it.' and ended it. Very unsatisfactory third act.
