I think your Sarcasm Detector is malfunctioning. You might want to have someone look at that for you...

Guess it doesn't kick in until 10 AM. Really not a morning person haha

I swear I read somewhere that in the 80s Cave Clan members would leave behind cassettes in plastic bags with recordings on them deep in drains and out of the way places of abandonments to reach out to other explorers.
I think that's pretty cool but with the internet you really don't need to do things like that.

That's true, we did... well I did.
It was like casting fishing lines trying to get a bite. The standard of explorers that we came across through the message bags was higher than the standard that would send a "I want locations" email.

We got some great bites

In regards to them not being needed thanks to the net, I think most explorers would think finding a bag from a fellow explorer pretty cool... well better than nothing.

Leaving tracts under Paris is quite popular.

Found a blog detailing someone's exploration of a silo, and a subsequent search of "urban exploration colorado" led me to the UER. It was a pretty nice find

I just got into light painting and I wanted to find some abandoned spots in Atlanta so I googled the subject which led me to Creative Loafing which spoke about UER. Looking forward to the No Exit next weekend even if I have to shot hooky from work to make it.

Not exactly new here, but found the site through google as well. Searching most UE related topics seems bring up this site in the first few pages of the results

I actually think this is REALLY cool! How does this work though? You could leave some contact info on the tape but if its found by a utility worker and turned in to the authorities, that's not good...

They were different times in the 80s & 90s.

I also put them up far enough that people graffitying at the outlet or kids bonging on wouldn't find them but still in the main tunnel so it was more likely that an explorer would find them.

I only ever put them in drains and mines, not service, telecommunication, cable tunnels & the like.

Cheers

I was bored at work one day, surfing the web, when I found an article that linked to the site Atlas Obscura. The article was about the network of tunnels under Los Angeles. Since I live in Seattle, this made me think about our own Underground. Doing a few Google searches on the Seattle Underground led me to a message board where someone posted a link to the UER Pacific Northwest message board. I have been hooked ever since.

I only regret that I didn't get interested in this stuff until a few years ago. It sounds like my original home state of Michigan is a virtual treasure trove of abandoned and obscure urban locations. Oh well, Seattle isn't too shabby either!

I actually had no idea that urban exploration was a hobby. I had explored a few times myself then I came across an article online in which someone talked about their experiences. I decided to google it to find out more and came across this site.

Interests collided while geeking out on talks raked from YT. I learned about this site from a very quick mention in an almost off-topic (but not really) talk that took place at a convention in Las Vegas.

I saw a yahoo article about detroit ruins and started to search for places like that near me and I found this site and fell in love with urban exploring.
I saw a quote on a post when I first joined and I cant remember exactly how it went but it said something to the effect of "the best part about it is finding such beauty in a place where no beauty should be found."

I liked going to a local ghost town and random buildings and decrepit homes and wander around for hours and decided to see if I could find other places and on my search came across this site and haven't looked back just wanting to go to more places

I'm really into electronic music and as I was learning about Toronto's electronic music scene in the 90's I stumbled upon a infiltration post from a guy who experienced underground raves in factories and talked about various locations where raves were held. I did some snooping around that site and ended up finding this site.
