Saw mill (E. Texas)

I took these photos on Thanksgiving weekend. Though you can drive close to this site, I kayaked in from a few miles out for maximum personal enjoyment.

The sawmill itself was reportedly closed in 1923. Apparently tons of high school kids know where it is too. It is a close cluster of 3 buildings. The third building was smaller, with roof and walls relatively intact, so the photos didn't really come out to be cinematic at all.

I searched similar strings and didn't see this one posted anywhere unless I missed it. In that case, apologies for the repeat.

You didn't miss it. I hasn't been on here before. It's one of the places that's kinda been kept "off the radar". I've been there many times. Not too far from where I lived when I was a kid.

Stuff like this, way out in the middle of the woods, is my favorite...probably because I was one of those high school kids once.

It always amazes me what's out there, hidden behind the green curtains of East Texas.

Btw: Gertrude?!? How old is that graffiti?

It was probably much nicer then too

(because spray paint hadn't been invented yet back when Raticus was a kid)

LOLOL, my friend 2X. Good to hear from you again. And btw, we had spray paint. We would take colored clay, blow it through bamboo shoots.... Organic Spray paint. And it was environmentally safe too!
