Non-FM Database question

First, significant apologies in advance if this is covered somewhere and I've overlooked it. I did search, and I've read the Database thread in the Tutorials section (http://www.uer.ca/...rrpage=1&pp#post10) but there isn't anything specifically pertaining to this query in it.

I'm wondering if there's any way to contribute/send information to the LD as a basic member. I'm in Iowa, and from what I've gathered (mostly) watching the forum for the last year, there are not a tremendous amount of us in my area, and the general consensus is that there's not a lot of really sweet stuff to explore (this is fair - we are a major farming state. Acreage is tremendously valuable here - we tear stuff up to grow genetically modified corn and soybeans on so that there can be more ethanol. Mmm-mmm!) But it's not COMPLETELY dry.

Obviously, as a basic member, I do not have access to seeing what's in the locations database to begin with, and I also recognize that it may take me a while to fulfill the full member requirements because there aren't so many folks in my area that I can go out with and thus be vetted by (I'm not launching a complaint, I completely understand the reasons for this, but I also have two jobs and limited time/resources to travel out of state to play in the dirt with strangers <3)

All that being said, I do think there's some worthwhile stuff out there in my backyard countryside. Not huge, not deeply titillating, but worthwhile for an afternoon diversion if someone passing through (we ARE between the east and west coasts!) or transplanted here (it really is a lovely place to live).

So... is there a way to send things to a moderator for inclusion or... something? Maybe this is all totally moot, in which case I'll shut up and go away (D, come on, nobody cares about crappy old farm houses in the middle of nothing). But since I couldn't find a specific answer, I hope it won't be frowned on too much to ask.

you could maybe send it to a full member or mod if they have time for it.

I doubt any moderators would have time to upload your own content into the LDB. What's wrong with just sharing in the forums? That's where everyone will see it anyway.

Also, why not just apply for full membership? The lack of knowing any full members is a disadvantage but not the end of the world. You've been on the site almost two years, made over 100 posts, and if you haven't creeped anyone out in that time then there probably won't be any reason to exclude you.

Well, I do post on the forums, but the whole 'revealing specific locations' thing, I do try to be vague about the specifics. Not that probably too many people are salivating to go tag that crappy farmhouse in the middle of the raging cornfields.

I've only really been a member of the forums for a year and a half. I registered in March and promptly forgot the site existed entirely until, like, October or something and only realized I had the account because I tried to re-register the same email address. -.- Internet win! That being said, I was under the possibly-mistaken understanding that someone had to first recommend me for full membership before I could apply. I will go ahead and re-read the process again. Thanks

Note self: must work harder on creeping people out. You're a disappointment to your dead 90s goth subculture. Jesus.

I think you can post what state a location is in without getting too terribly specific. I've seen some very vague headings in the DB, like "between x and y towns."

This all day long. I applied and got FM and have not met a soul here sadly. But I also didn't be too much of an ass either. Your post history looks good. Apply today!

Exactly. These are two common basic member mistakes:
1. Not applying for full membership and resigning to being a basic member for no particular reason.
2. Not participating in the site in anticipation of having the secrets of the LDB unlocked for you after receiving full membership.

Hell, I'd vote for you just because this made me titter.

I’m quite positive that you’ve slept with someone uglier than me, and I’m sure I’ve slept with someone hotter than you. So let’s just call it a draw.
