Sunday explore; Pea Farm

Howdy! Got some pictures to share.

My list for Sunday was;
1. Buy nice winter gloves that I can ride in, warm enough to keep my fingers from falling off, and still be dexterous enough to operate my smarty-phone.
2. Buy Scentsy Bulbs.
3. Complete a couple of my painting projects so I can make a little pocket change to pay on my latest impulse buy (I am now the proud parent of FIVE horses, and one of those five is cooking one due in spring. Repeat after me; I do not need another horse, I do not need another horse...)

Well, the only thing that was scratched off on my list was #1. And that one I am kind of appalled about, because I spent forty bucks on a pair of gloves. Nice gloves, but geeze. These fingers better appreciate it.

I should have seen the signs before it happened. Just about any morning that I eat waffle house, I end up going on an adventure. Waffle house is perfect adventure food, I suppose. I always get the country ham and eggs over medium with heinz 57 on the eggs, toast with jelly (not picky about that.) I want my hashbrowns smothered and covered (like the bloodhound gang song). Coffee to drink, with two creamers.

We were over in the area, and I mentioned that I had never been to the Pea Farm, so my boyfriend took me. He had been there as a high-schooler but he'd never seen it in the daytime.

We drove the truck down the almost invisible dirt road and parked it out of view, then trekked through the woods to find it. The path to it was easy to find, even if at first there wasn't a definite path to follow. Empty beer cans, chip wrappers, water bottles, an old mate-less shoe; this bird-crumb trail was made of the relics trekkers who had made the pilgrimage before us. We reached the end of a wash out creek, and under where the water had pooled, a pile of ancient bricks and mortar stared back. An old bridge stood nearby, camouflauged and reclaimed almost completely by nature. we followed the levee until we came across these ruts that were in perfect rows. I thought maybe they were from farm land, but after doing a little internet research it is possible it might have been a potters field (graves). The trail opened up to a four way crossing. I kicked the leaves and uncovered gravel underneath. We took a left and didn't venture on the ahead path or the one on the right. The jailhouse was on the path that we picked, and it sneaks up on you, blending in almost as well as the bridge we had seen earlier.

This place spooked me. I don't know if it was because of all the tales about it, or because it was a prison, the basement filled with water... It was just eerie. Nothing happened or alarmed us while we were there, but I was on edge a bit more than I often am while exploring.

I will now let the pictures do the rest of the talking. Enjoy!

Oooo the Pea Farm. How much water would you say is in that basement?

Adventure is out there.

i like this

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

Shit. I was going to try it out with cheat waders, but if it's 5 ft deep, I'll drown. I guess I'll try an inflatable raft?

Adventure is out there.

Be sure not to bonk your head and bring a flashlight. My depth perception may be off, I would use the second-to-last picture (the one with the submerged door) for reference. You are a much braver soul than I am!
