Suggestions on good boots

Right now, I just have a pair of Gripfast 10eye steeltoes that I've been using, but they get mighty uncomfortable walking around all day in them. Not looking for anything extremely expensive either, maybe in the $50-60 range.

I wouldn't want to waste a good pair of boots like that on abandoned sites. If you wear them for foot safety, you'd probably be better off getting whatever boots you can find that construction workers would wear. I think thick soles are going to protect your feet more than steel caps anyway, unless you're planning to do manual labour there.

One of my favourite pairs of boots were paratrooper boots, which have reinforced leather toes rather than heavier steel. They were so light I felt like I was walking on the moon, and I could even run again. I was initially worried the zipper would bust, but it lasted until I retired them.

For some sites also, especially if you have to climb anything, it really helps to have a pair of tight-fitting canvas shoes, even if it means losing five Oi! points.

This...

I was trying to get over a fence in the rain this weekend, and I couldn't get the toe of my boots into the fence. Then again, I ended up in mud that was almost knee deep, and had to walk through a shallow creek, so having waterproof boots helped keep my feet dry all day.

It all depends on the site really. I switch between steel toe and waterproof, and I go with "Bates" brand boots. They aren't really cheap though..

I also have a pair of North Face trail running shoes, which are good for climbing, but they don't offer much other than ankle support. Also not too cheap..

I wear whatever boots I have. But for climbing fences, boots without a rounded tip are best. Getting toes in chainlinks suck.

I've had good results with two pairs of Wolverine boots. The first one lasted five years of drains and things. I don't know how often I wore them in swimming-deep water.

haha not worried about Oi! points; I have enough to spare . Might hit up a surplus store for paratrooper boots as per your suggestion, but I was thinking more along the lines of construction boots. Basically I want something comfortable to walk around in for long periods of time with durability. As for tight fitting canvas shoes, low top Chuck Taylors or Jack Purcells are my steez.

Maybe I'll head over to Boot World this week and check those out too. I get paid on the 5th, so I have some time to shop around.

New Balance has some pretty cheapo trail running shoes. I just need something more protective in case I step on a nail or something.

Actually, now days, I just wear whatever shoes I have on unless I am going to go hiking in some sort of really hard to get place. I usually wear vans or my cowboy boots.

Can happen with boots too.

I must point out it is resistant and not proof. I get your point, but hell, I have second degree burns on my side from light painting, so I guess I am not the safest person who ever existed. I do watch where I step though.

Definitely. The round toe on them really does the trick of making me look like a tard xD

The only thing I can think of that would be worse than cowboy boots is ski boots.

One does simply burn them selves light painting when they are me. Alcohol was not involved. I am majorly clumsy. Like, big time. I was stone sober, but trying to do something I hadn't previously done.

Steed, to be fair, I am from Texas and they are not JUST cowboy boots, they are also reinforced work boots.

Agreed, but if I am going to climb a fence, I will either do it barefoot (those boots are super easy to remove) or I will be wearing a different pair of shoes. Those boots are weatherproof (I did it, they didn't come like that), so I don't have to worry about them being soaked with water or anything.

Palladium boots are cheap (50$), rugged, light, canvas, easy to maneuver/run in, and thick soled. And they don't look suspicious.
I recommend them.

"And it was, though more unutterable, like the crumbling away of two little heaps of finest sand, or dust, or ashes, of unequal size, but diminishing together as it were in ratio, if that means anything, and leaving behind them, each in its own stead, the blessedness of absence."
