Perhaps we should do two groups, Sat and Sun. It looks like more folks are available for Sun. but some other folks who haven't been want to go Sat. I want to be able to show some of the unfamiliar people around so if you have not been, or are only slightly familiar with the location I would like to lead that group (lookin at you Seedy, TRUE and Partime Wanderer). Lets figure out our groups.

Talisman is the obvious choice to lead a group since he has intimate knowledge of the base as well. If someone has not been to the stockade then going on Sat. is the obvious choice for that person since you can get in via permission(or sneak in on Sun.). Ideally if we could all go the same day it would be nice but we all have our responsibilities.

What say you Talisman, want to share a couple locations with a small group?

Saturday is better for me but I can do Sunday also. But like I said, I can probably only do a few hours in the a.m. It's probably not a good idea to sneak into the stockade seeing as its occupied by a handful of private construction companies now, so that place would be a no-go for me on Sunday. But I'm game for everything else between between the WW2 barracks and the obstacle course by East Garrison.

You guys might also want to consider your mode of travel through the base. There are no roads open to motorized vehicles over on the East side so the best way to get around is on a mountain bike. Either that or walking. I can do either, but usually ride it. A bike will give you more bang for your buck.

I was thinking of exploring just the western part of the base. The East garrison is a completely different ball of wax these days (as you well know). Gone are the days of walking up the Rd. and cruising through that wonderful quiet wasteland around the old theater.

There are still plenty of locations in west garrison and you can drive to all of them (unless the road access has changed). I just want to keep it simple since some folks haven't even been there yet.

I guess it depends on how much people want to see then. If its barracks and old buildings then the West side is ok. Simple might be the best way to go though. Anyone interested should check back through this and other Ord related threads and decide on which locations they would prefer to visit. Just be aware though that some sites are now non-existent or inaccessible (high risk).

...turns out I wasn't alone though. A couple of scrappers were making a lot of noise on the upper level of one of the barracks. I wonder if they've seen the building with the upper level totally collapsed?
