Uneasy "scary feeling" when exploring for first time.

Is it normal to have a feeling that someone is staring you down and nobody is there on a exploration? Symptoms are: Tight muscles, heightened awareness, adrenaline rush, poor concentration. Its only encountered at my location around 5:00pm and into night hours.

Doesn't take shit.

Yes its normal, and it will stop eventually. However, the adrenalin rush will not. When you come across a property you have found on your own, your heart beings to pound, your palms get sweaty and you think "holy ****" sort like kissing for the first time

When you are exploring and start to feel really uncomfortable,it maybe your body's way of telling you to leave..this is called "fight or flight" and we all experience it

yup, being alone in an abandoned building at night can be quite the scary experience, and it takes a long time to be fully comfortable with that sort of environment.

I would just like to add that some people seen to have a natural predisposition to being in those types of environments, but if you aren't one of the ones who does, don't worry it definitely gets easier with time.

I was thinking that, but I guess being in any dark place could be scary.

First time, yes. But after awhile it goes away. There's still the excitement of being there, and the adrenaline rush at times, but you won't feel like someone's watching you all the time.

I went with a couple noobs yesterday, and one of them turned white and stood stalk still whenever he heard a noise (birds, squirrels, fence moving from wind, pipes dripping, etc.) "What was that? Did you hear that? Is someone there?".

Best to be heading out before dark unless the place is sealed from daylight like a underground bunker. Not much to see and a lot more ways to get hurt or find trouble otherwise.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

Great question!
That heightened awareness and adrenaline rush can be addicting, it's like a drug.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me I've found that there can be two sides of that coin, elation and fear. It's easy to go from elation to fear, but much more difficult to flip back.
When it comes on you and you maintain control of your thoughts and actions and really use that heightened awareness, it can be a pretty awesome feeling. But if you go from fear, to panic, shit can go downhill fast.

Before you get into those situations, try to think of what *might* happen, and how you would respond to them, because when you make that decision in an instant without any prior though, it can sometimes be the wrong one. If you've already thought it through before hand, you're more likely to make the right decision.

How will you respond if security shows up? How will you respond if it's just some normal person who sees you? Can you really get away? Is that floor really safe to walk on? What are your other options? Can you just hide somewhere? Is it *really* a good idea to jump off this roof in the dark?

Staying in control is your best option. Giving in to fear (the PANIC) can cause you to make mistakes you wouldn't normally make if you were thinking clearly.

Many, many wreck divers have been found dead; snagged on something, and drowned with almost a full tank of air on their backs. They panic and it takes over.

With exploring it's no different, it's just a different setting.
Spend some time to think about what you may face and how you'll respond. Stay in control of your own mind, control your breathing if you have to. USE your heightened senses. Learn to control your adrenaline rushes.

TL;DR version: Don't jump off tall buildings or out of windows in the dark. Talk your way out if you can. If you run, don't get caught. Give a hobo a cigarette before using your bear mace on him. Diversions can be created by breaking a kneecap in the slowest member of your group. If you're not moving, it's harder for them to see you at night. Avoid sharks when possible.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

I think this is best decided personally. Daylight can be your enemy just as easily as darkness.

Know when it's best to use a bright flashlight, and when a very very dim one is your best option.

If you fear going out at night, you can potentially miss out on lots of opportunities you wouldn't have otherwise.

I don't go out at night cause around those hours you might be seen as a burglar or something. But at my location, there's too much stuff to trip over and you could get lost easily since its out doors. You would need the light of day to find your way back, but if it was a building sure.

Doesn't take shit.

Aight so now I gotta ask...

You now say you don't go out at night, but you wear black jeans and a black shirt and take a flashlight?

You just like standing out like a black-clad figure in the daylight, even if everything around you isn't necessarily black?
What do you think "burglars" usually wear? Green? Pink?

I wear green shirts or gray coats or neutral colored shirts during the day, this kind of camouflage was used during world war 2. I wear black pants for "shadow". I would carry a black shirt and black paints during night. lol, im pretty sure they wear black.

Burglars: Come out at night, always wear black.

How can you carry extra clothing at night if you don't go out at night? All that stuff you could trip over, remember, especially in those hulking commando boots.

how does what they wore in WWII have anything to do with an appropriate, dynamic color combination for "blending in" based on what and where the explore is?

Your signature line (that thing that makes you sound SO badass) says you always wear black clothing. What's the point of that if it's not true? You think girls are gonna picture you in all that and fap to it or something?

You're portraying one thing as this tactical model of yourself, then you create posts like this one.
Try to keep your ducks in a row without constantly modifying your story to fit each new information while still portraying something else entirely.
