Rookies: Know your rights and protect yourselves! (x-post from Main)

I wrote this up and posted it in Main, then decided it would do well to put it here for you guys too.

Considering the ongoing discussion in another thread about photographers and police, I've decided to lay out what I keep in my camera bag at all times to hopefully help protect myself from over zealous LEOs and property owners. (Of course if I'm busted trespassing none of this will really matter, but it's good to have in general, IMHO).

1:
"The Photographer's Right" (PDF) by attorney Bert Krages. This document is a one page outline of the basic laws that pertain to photography in the US. It covers things like what (or who) you are and are not allowed to shoot, your rights when confronted shooting, and how to handle people who are harassing you.

2:
Snippits of my state's law book that pertain to whether or not I have to show ID to the police, and some legal definitions brought up in "The Photographer's Right."

3:
An article from the ACLU about the legality of recording / photographing police. It is my opinion that you should record any encounter with the police to protect yourself.

4:
And, lastly, "Legal Rights of Photographers" (PDF) by Andrew Kantor. This eight page document is very similar to "The Photographer's Right" but goes into more detail in each topic as well as covering issues like copyright, and publishing rights.

So, what I get out of that is "Don't publish anything until the statute of limitations (for your trespassing offense) has expired."

They can't legally demand your images be destroyed or silenced unless they can prove you violate expected privacy. Privacy is an individual and intellectual right, not a property right.

I mean in regards to self incrimination through publication of images that were created while trespassing.
