Greetings! I'm an artist in Atlanta, and read about SPECTRE in the Creative Loafing a while back and finally put in the research to figure out where to go to get involved. I was shocked that they couldn't find even one female to interview! I'd gladly go! Exploring and photographing architectural decay gives me the same dizzying rush that I imagine one might get from bungee jumping or sky diving. While I don't know if I can make it to the Atlanta Festicle coming up, (actually I'm not even sure what that is, so if anyone cares to enlighten me that would be awesome) but I definitely would like to get involved at some point. Just thinking of the amazing photographs in my future makes my head spin.

Hey people, I'm 20 years old and from Melbourne's eastern suburbs in Australia, always been interested in Urban exploration and still find myself dressed in camouflage with a less enthusiastic mate behind me, usually both drunk, finding our way into interesting places. I really didn't expect to find an active website based on this stuff but here we are.

I noticed a couple of people from the Cave Clan on here, I've read all about them, it's pretty cool to see that sort of thing still goes on, I may have to meet up with some members one day for a little tour.

For any Melbournians reading this, I spent a lot of my time at Koonung Creek (stormwater system that runs into the Yarra River) as a kid and know the area fairly well, I have a little info from my older brother on a good tunnel down there with a big room and a system of tunnels running into it. Haven't found it as I can't remember where exactly he said it was. If you've explored the area around Koonung Creek too let me know!

I've been going through abandonment's for years without realizing there was actually an entire subculture that enjoyed doing the same thing as me. I normally work solo but have recently partnered up with a friend. I'm based in the North Carolina triangle area and wouldn't mind meeting up with some fellow explorers. I've done everything from drains to somewhat active sites. I'm looking for people who can handle themselves and have a decent knowledge of the area. Shoot me a pm if you're interested and live nearby/are in the area. I lack a car so I usually get around with others/public transportation.

Picture related, from a recent trip through the Zodiac Drains.

Hello all.

I'm new around here but not terribly new to exploring. Just thought I'd say hello, and I'm excited to be a part of this online community. Looking forward to doing more exploring in the future!

Not new to this website, for some reason beyond me I completely forgot about it. Been doing all my exploring on my own and only just recently with a close friend, and out of the blue one day I remembered this website. Glad to be back! Hoping to finally get member status someday.

It's easier to get full member status when you don't forget that this place exists.

Just sayin.

Hi,

I'm totally new to UE and this site. I'm very excited to be able to try it one day though. Til then I'm enjoying all of the awesome (and sometimes not so awesome) pictures you've taken! It's really interesting to see places I recognize that have since been abandoned...

Hi all, I'm new to ue and from Denton in North Texas. I've been browsing ue photography for about a year on the web, but just recently starting going out myself. Went to a few locations from the db here on Friday w/a couple friends, I'd be very interested in exploring with a more seasoned veteran sometime!

Hi, I've been to a few sites in Philly. An abandoned el, old tunnel and I'm looking to find more. My term paper this semester is on urban exploration; I'm also looking to expand my understanding of this. Hope you all a lucid day.

I never did this so I thought it would be a good idea to post.

I live in Palm Springs, California.
I explore every now and then. I just got a camera though so I'm going to be exploring way more often.
I like video games, punk rock, and Doctor Who.

Hi everyone! I've been exploring for almost 16 years now. When I started I lived in Lake Tahoe Nevada, so there was never any shortage of abandoned casinos, drain tunnels, and whore houses to explore. But because of work (and my desire to not be homeless) I now live in Florida. That's right, Florida. I'm stuck living on America's dong now. I don't know anyone here, and have no idea where any good places to explore are. Not going to let it get me down though, there's bound to be something good out in the woods, besides rednecks that is.

Hi! I'm Kristella. I'm based out of OKC. I know there's a lot of Tulsa cats and Dallas people, but there's a small group of OKC explorers and I'm here for references, maps on other cities, tips and tricks, and support. I've been doing UE for a year now; it started when I went to document the city's graffiti scene. I suppose I fell in love with experiencing the city more than the art. (Though, the art is super-cool too, most of it is shit.) Hoping to get some expert advice from some veterans and meet a few new people.

Been exploring for years, mostly in the Baltimore/Philly area. Recently moved to California. I've never really gotten involved on any message boards, but I ran into another explorer this weekend who suggested I check this place out, and here I am.

I also enjoy photography (mainly fine art and I like to shoot at night), music (grew up on punk but I like a little bit of everything), surfing, lots of things.

Hi guys! Name's Gazz, and I started getting into urban exing a few months ago. It all began after I discovered geocaching, and began getting outdoors a whole lot more with my friends. After a while we got bored of finding little containers in the woods, and wanted to find big containers! So began my urban exing career...

What else, what else... I'm 23 years old, enrolled in engineering at U of T (about to graduate), and I'm from Richmond Hill (Ontario, Canada), but I live in Toronto. I split my time between these two places. I've found a bunch of cool urban ex locations around these two cities that I'm gonna start posting on the forums.

I think that's it... nice to meet you guys!

Oh, and if anyone is down to go urban exing in R Hill or Toronto lemme know! I'm at Bay and College...

Hiya!

I recently moved to Philadelphia after living in Texas for the last 9 years. I discovered urbex after seeing a friend's photos from his explorations. Needless to say, I was completely enamored--by the idea, the philosophy, the thrill, the stories, and the history. So far, I've been to three psychiatric hospitals, a coal breaker, a prison, and a convent.

This new-found hobby reminds me of a Tennyson poem that reads "O Earth what changes hast thou seen!" At first glance, these places quickly live up to the label "abandoned" and the connotations that follow: ugly eyesores, a waste of space. Yet as we begin to uncover their layers of dust and grime, of history and opulence, of form and function, we learn--no, we experience--and relive the past. We begin to imagine these places in their zenith. For a moment, we are transported. We see the ghosts of the past, very much alive for this one moment. And for a second, we pause. We think. We ponder. If this is how quickly the earth can reclaim what is rightfully hers, how much of these ebbs and flows has she experienced? How many civilizations has she seen attempt to take over the world only to crumble from within? In a matter of decades, buildings that once stood in harsh defiance against nature, now quietly bends to their knees. Oh earth, what changes you have seen.

Howdy,

I made this account a while ago, and forgot to post because it would not let me for X# days, not my fault.

I am probably just going to continue to lurk, keep quiet, and not f' things up locally.
I love to urban-ex, builder, rock-climb, hike, do parkour, and other similar things, but because of my age/gender/build/look I stick out to police and civilians...Yay profiling...
