The House of Dung

I was traveling some of the less well traveled roads and it appears I may have taken a wrong turn. I wasn't lost you understand, I just didn't know "exactly" where I was.

While enjoying the scenery, some of it a couple of times, just in case I missed it the first pass, I came upon an old farmhouse. I decided to stop and check it out.

It had been long abandoned, probably built in the 20's. The old farmstead was now just pasture with a few oil wells nearby.

Cattle, while stupid, (we bred them that way), are curious, and seem to love going into old houses and buildings. They especially seemed to love this one, as the evidence of their explorations showed.

Miles from nowhere, and still graffiti. They're probably buried in the dung somewhere.

Depths ranged from six inches to a couple of feet deep. It was even going out the back door.

I hadn't thought to bring my handy gas mask, so with the methane threatening to overwhelm me, I made it out the back and to the safety of the wasp nests and rattle snakes basking in the sun.

I couldn't find this place again if I wanted to, not that I'd want to.

Ruins, the fate of all cities.

That cant ALL be dung, right?? There's...so much. It sort of looks like a house that flooded and all the dirt stays behind...with some dung mixed in LOL

Cool find.

Wow. That gives new meaning to the term shit house.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools speak because they have to say something.

Nice shots, especially the graffiti. I'm always fascinated when someone chooses to write a plea for help, when given the option of writing anything in the world they could dream up. Then again, if I was in a house up to my ankles in shit, I'd ask for help too.

I've got a "help me" pic of a building in San Angelo as well. Maybe this dude is making the rounds...

I agree. That's what I thought of too, as far as it getting flooded at some point. You would totally be able to tell if it was all cow crap. Those things are not hard to miss at all, lol. Not to mention there would've been a crap load of spiders all throughout the ground since they pretty much live in that crap (literally, lol) I'm not a rancher, lol, but I've been to a ranch several times when my exes would get together for Easter near Eagle Lake. Anyway, great find though! I can imagine it smelled really bad in there.
