Just for the record ...
Raise your hand if you have drawn your weapon while out exploring.
Show of hands??

<-----------Hand raised, but not for a person. Stray dog that was acting out of character. Growling. Charging and stopping short. Finally put em down. Probably did the land owner ( A out of town corporation ) a favor and saved them a future lawsuit.

LMFAO!! is this thread for real?

ahahahahah... wtf

the blind leading the blind

and whats wrong with just sending out some experience in the form of advice to people who might have never had anything like this happen before? i think this thread is doing good by some people who might not have had the guts to ask bc people like you laugh at them, and say shit like the blind leading the blind.

why would you even bother taking the time to skim it and then take the time to type that out and make fun of people attempting to put in a cooperative effort of combined experiences into one coherent thought process for others to read and maybe take some of the advice given?

like i had never even thought to carry wasp spray with me, but now that i think about it since that was written i might just do that! that shit stings like hell and might be a hell of a lot cheaper than pepper spray or a tazer gun etc. and also keep my knives from being confiscated or left bc i see some cops and dont want to get caught with a way over the limit knife on me.

this was to help people or to just pass out information, not a bashing and lets make fun of people bc of it.

maybe next time think before you open that squawk box you call a mouth and not even bother wasting your breath. it's not helpful but hurtful towards how people view you and judge your character, no offense

i mean, i always play it safe, but thats because of prior negative experiences i had had exploring alone as a female in a horrendous area, bad bad ghetto, and was not thinking about it at all like an idiot and basically almost got caught by some assholes who im pretty sure from the shit they were shouting as i was running away from them planned to like rape and kill me. so yea, i liked the advice on this site and the fact that someone started a thread like this.

those who have been unhurt before i give props to, but i kind of equate it to people who drink and drive, they may "always" get home safe, but there is going to be that one night that they end up dying or killing someone else. better safe than sorry, regardless if they're "interweb tuff guys"

knowing is half the battle my friend

captain_slow you should also put stuff up to deal with animals. i ran into a bitch of a raccoon momma protecting her babies in jersey in an old restaurant, needless to say it was a horrible experience and i almost got bit the shit out of.

Speaking of drug labs, I once found a huge room of fertilizer. It was pretty scary at first, but then seemed to make sense since 1) I was directly next to a lot of fields and 2) It was pretty undisturbed.

Also, I was once pointed out a site by my girlfriend, and as she and a friend of mine were checking it out at night (from the road), we heard people talking and scurrying about which is when she decided to tell me there was a crack house next door.

In many places it's only illegal for minors to buy cigarettes not posses them. And if you're a minor you'll get off scot free and then your non-felonious record will be sealed when you turn 18. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Hopefully not a double post, buy my friend got arrested (never arraigned though) and he had some tobacco and they added it on to some other charges as well.

Not sure which part the huh was to but: Fertilizer is used in bomb making, so finding a stash of it would be scary. (I realized it wasn't the kind used for bombs and in a logical place though).

Or if the double post thing was confusing I had accidentally double posted, and just copy and pasted it not realizing I said that.

Ive never ran into a homless persson or a meth lab but once when exploring an abandoned rail car barn ive came across a chop shop immedatly left never been back
Oh and there was the time I was in an old factory with some friends and was hunted down by the owner who had the stairwell booby traped... after he gave up looking for us we discovered he had a small bootlegging operation in the hundreds of used waterbottles filled with booze of some sort. The white building in the pic was the chop shop so was the one with daylight showing unfortunalty no pics of the cars the pic with all the random junk was the booby trapped bootlegging place ugg never agian.

Just to play Devil's advocate: Where are all the meth labs, bootleggers, chop shops, and mafia body dumps supposed to go if they can't use abandoned buildings?!

You meddling kids are ruining it for everybody!

Interestingly enough, I just had a conversation with a buddy of mine who is a cop about how a massive rising problem in Texas in mobile meth labs. Yes, Mobile.

Dudes will get a big Chevy Astro panel van with no windows, build a bulkhead so you can't see in from the windshield or door windows, and have a lab set up in the back, and just drive around. As long as the tags are good on the van and the driver doesn't speed, there really is almost literally no way the cops can catch them, because it's illegal to pull people over for no reason. They'll pull into rural gas stations at 3 or 4 am and fuel up, every once in a while stop for supplies...

I blame urban explorers such as yourself, Captain Slow, for putting meth lab technicians through such expense and rigors. Obviously, the chemists at Shady Acres (or whatever that convalescent home is where you were nearly killed), are feeling less secure about their otherwise perfect setting since your visit.

Do you think the scrappers, meth-cookers, body-dumpers and squatters get together and bitch about the damn urban explorers?

Funny - in my jalopy-driving teenage years I used to get pulled over quite a lot by the cops and they never had any problem telling me that "I fit a profile". Course, that's NJ for ya.

Implying there's a difference between the other explorers and myself? Implying that it should be easy or acceptable for meth cooks to exist at all? I hope they do feel less secure.
