| | | Been wanting to get in here for awhile... Technically not an abandonment but I think it was still pretty cool. It's the junkyard for the school buses from the local school district. They've all lead very hard lives from the looks of it, and it's super eery to walk around on the decrepit buses, you can almost imagine them being full of kids and noise. The place is pretty small, and easy to get into, but it's within eyesight of the district's active busyard, with a 24 hour guard, lots of traffic, not many places to hide, ect, but I think it's well worth it... I got a freebie because I'm a 5-year district employee, so if anyone wants to check it out go for it but be very careful. I doubt they'd do much except ask you to leave but that's still not fun. Lots of cool stuff. Anyways, enjoy the pics, feel free to critique the first 4 that I edited, they're my first ever photo edit...

Thanks! Old beasts are actually pretty fun to drive, too. Hit me if you ever plan a trip to DFW I can probably get you into the junkyard legal to take some better pics.

What is that screen thing to the left of the wheel in your shot from the drivers seat? GPS?? [last edit 2/13/2011 5:31 AM by Happiedaze - edited 1 times]

This district invested in a neat little system where the students all have an RFID chip in their student IDs with their student number, so they scan it when they got on and off and it provides realtime data to parents on when and where any student got on and off, and what bus. That is a little data terminal where to driver can check and see who all is riding, if anyone is trying to sneak onto the wrong bus, or if anyone slept through their stop. It also provides canned directions for the route but sadly, no GPS.
