Anyone ever use a disguise?

So, I've been thinking. In my hometown, and in all of North Texas, really, literally every single one of any sort of company, department, or agency that uses fleet vehicles uses 2006-2007 white Ford Rangers. Building inspectors, code enforcement, tax office, ect, all the people who would legally be checking out an abandonment would be in a 2007 white Ford Ranger.

So, two years ago I bought my first new car... A white Ford Ranger. It's a long running joke with my friends that it's a fleet vehicle because I bought it at a surplus auction and it's the sub-base model work truck model, exactly like in every way to the trucks they use. What if I got a few random stick on numbers and threw them on the fenders, bought one of those little rotating yellow lights and a vest/hard hat.. Do you think it'd be enough for a cop to see me entering an abandonment and ignore it, thinking it's a routine inspection? (daytime). Would it entail a heftier fine if caught for impersonating somebody?

I don't think there's a larger fine for trespassing while dressed eccentrically, but I'm also not a lawyer.

The best thing of course is to not be seen in the first place.

Just don't impersonate the pigs, and don't hang around too long. It may fool the borderline retarded police department, but property owners who notice might be concerned.

haha nice.

Depending on how "local" the cop is, he may know more about who is supposed to be in what empty building when, etc. Or more importantly, knows that no one is supposed to be in that building ever. Not all cops are dumb. They are trained to look for something suspicious after all...

I think the disguise of construction man/woman/any of the six village people has been done by members here on many-an-occasion. That being said, and please correct me if I am wrong, the idea behind the guise is to be on the property and not look out of place. I have never seen a hardhat wearing, clipboard carrying dude in a vest scale a fence and clamber through a window... If you are wearing said disguise, best go through the front door.

So basically, yeah - just try not to be seen. Park elsewhere, enter undetected. Be smart.

This is all theoretical of course, I don't condone any like behavior whatsoever. P

the hard hat's probably not such a good idea since as said before no one in a hard hat would be climbing through windows.
but good thinking on the car since if someone drives by they won't pay much attention to it

I don't know about dressing up. but i think having your truck like that may deter cops. they will probably think you are hired by the owner and just a security car.
There's a place around me that had a decoy truck just like that parked there all the time so people wouldn't go in. but i never saw a soul there.

Abandonment? No. Just sneak in. Predawn it if you have to.

Cover your body in lead paint and let it dry. as you walk around it will chip off and you'll be perfect camouflage.

Lol thanks for the ideas.

I wasn't thinking of exploring in the vest and hard hat, that's be a dead giveaway, more of like pull up in the ranger, waltz in the front door, then take off the vest and helmet, explore, come back, put on the hat and vest, and waltz back out.

Dressing as a hobo/crackhead/homeless psycho might actually be effective.

I managed to acquire a security company jacket, but not sure I'd explore in it, as I'd probably get my head bashed in by some disgruntled evictee.

So, my only real disguise is "white guy who doesn't know any Korean."

Only if it looks out of place. People leave crap just lying there in abandonments all the time.

I don't know that I would use the flashing yellow light. That's kinda the opposite of camouflage. It's something the eye picks up and wants to pay attention to.

The white truck sounds like a good idea as well as the bumper numbers. Hard hat and vest would work out too but if your gonna use em, might as well stay in em. If your going to be taking pictures, that is going to make you look even more like an employee doing something they are supposed to be doing. As far as I know, there is no law around here saying you can't pretend to be a city employee so I don't see how you could get into more trouble for it.
