Need advice on getting around lots of security.

There is a large old apartment complex I am planning to go exploring at, but the property has two Scientology hotel/resorts, and both of them have security officers that patrol the perimeter of the property, and the place that I am going to does not have much cover. when i went there to scout out the property, a security guard was there inside of five minutes after parking, and he walked over real slowly, and we said hi, he asked us some questions, and then you could tell that he wanted us to leave, so we left, and he starred at us from the lobby of the hotel next door until our car went around the corner. On the left side of the building is a failed construction site also owned by the scientologists, just piles of dirt and lots of trees, but there is a street in front of the construction site that the security will walk down to check for people. All of the area is surrounded by fences, but that is easy to bypass. The building is set up so that all of the enclosed sections are just apartments, the staircases and the doors to get into the rooms are also outside, and they face the hotel where that security guard came from. Before the guard got there, I did locate a way in through a second story balcony with a door missing, but once again it was in perfect view of the security. Also, a lot of the rooms have lots of windows that you could easily see someone moving around in the building, but I guess I could just duck under the windows so they can't see me. The only other way to get to the building is by water, there is a small boat slip on the other side of the building that can only be seen from the smaller building on the right.

So any advice or tips would really be helpful.

you are correct, that one security guard had flash light, taser, mase, ear-piece connected to a multichannel 200 dollar radio. At first he reminded me of the secret service.

Sorry, alert and prepared security is hard to best. Try asking nicely? If that fails, a distraction it a time-based weakness might work. Shift change, a friend with a flat tire, etc. should be a friend they haven't seen before.

It all depends on the layout. I know it is pretty convenient rolling up around noon on a nice day, but that doesn't leave you with very much cover. i suggest using the natural landscape as as cover as much as you can, even if that involves hiking for several miles. Pick a dark stormy night, wear all black or very dark neutral colors, using a spotting scope or a long camera lens to check nearby buildings before you dash for cover. If you are able to plan out the right time, you can waltz across the whole property in broad daylight and no one will even see you I'm sure. Get online, find some aerial pictures, study some topo maps, and do some good old fashion recon on that place.

It's right on the water, the terrain is flat, and its in downtown area, there is no forest or any kind of cover, and the area around the building is lit up at night.

Water could be good, if you wanna swim. leaving a boat out there will signal your presence when you leave it there. Sounds like you need to go on the rainiest, darkest night of the year then.

True, after looking on google earth, there was a boat launch not too far away from the building, could take something small like a kayak and just hide it under some brush, or behind the concrete water barrier.

dont fuck with the Scientology owned places. trust me. especially with their main headquarters being here in clearwater. these people have more money than the intergalactic space wrangler that they worship and i guarantee you, there are cameras everywhere that you did not see.

as death-defying as it may seem, i'd probably pass up this place. cops i can deal with. money hungry space worshippers are something else.

Note; they WILL press charges. Because they can. Every time one of us talks to police and gets off, it's because no charges were pressed. They have money and don't like people snooping. Passed on this place. There's other apartment buildings.

Well, I love the challenge so I would have to do this now if I was in the area.

Small fire on the street outside. Nothing that could get out of hand but something that security would show up and take care of it and have a warm fuzzy for the week.

Then come in from some other area and try my best to see what I can and get out without getting caught. As long as they don't see you till your leaving, your good. Most guards won't even chase you if your on the way out.

And if you do get caught, ask to see their certification to carry the mace and tazers. Most guards that carry em aren't actually certified to carry em through the state. Might get you out of trouble if you get caught. A nice little "you don't tell on me, I won't tell on you" situation.

Otherwise, haul ass.

Depends on the guard company. If it is private security, some contractors can detain you, others can only call the police. This is a good point though; research what powers they actually have. If you get busted, do you just beat it? Or are you then fleeing a semi-official cop?

All good questions.

Many states don't require a permit for even regular citizens to carry those. Cali included. Only some states require permits of some sort. And even then they aren't always required to be carried while they're on-duty. Their permit has to be filed with their station usually. It really depends on the individual state's laws. And if it's private property then it's a moot point, as you can carry anything you wish on private property, with owners permission.

Trying to back someone into a corner wouldn't be my first option.

But I did like the flat tire/fire idea. (the flat tire one, being by far the better of the two, as there would be far less repercussion.) Classic distraction. Very nice. Um, there are these devices you can buy for pretty cheap, I think like $25 or $40 that you look through a lense and it will pinpoint a camera in the direction you're looking. There is apparently a means of foiling security cameras using lights/lasers/etc that you'll have to do some study on.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

Just join their scientology group, or act like your one. Get a Star Trek t-shirt and play out the rouse that you are there on some super secret alien fact finding mission. If you act like a nut case the security guards will think you belong there. Or if you have the balls for it you can play terrorist and just take the security guards hostage.

Well...... crap........

My friend Tom tried that. Look what happened to him.

Very good question and point. Most security companies can not actually detain you. They have no power of arrest. Though your right. Some contractors can if they are using off duty officers.

Like the places I worked for in Tennessee, we couldn't put hands on anyone or detain them unless they put hands on us first. If you touched us, it was game on. Course the normal way around this was just to keep moving in front of them and blocking the exit until they tried to move us.... Or we just did it anyway and when we talked to the police said they touched us first. Who seems more credible? The security dude or the guy that was breaking the law and trespassing?

And this is what makes most security guards/bouncers dicks. Blocking an exit to start a fight is just moronic.
