| | | so if i donated at noon today, and there's still nothing showing up as far as acknowledgment that i donated, should i be worried? is there a lag time? its been a while since i donated so i don't remember. the money had not been removed from my bank account even. is that normal?
Sorry, what was that you were saying about forever alone? |

It has to cross the time zone to get to Toronto. Hamilton is what, 20 years behind Toronto?

ditto "You have successfully signed up for a subscription to UER Premium Membership using PayPal. Your first subscription payment, for $25.00 USD, has already been sent to Urban Exploration Resource." But no can has premium membership? Seems it doesn't go through right away like the donations do.

| | | Av, what became of the site re-design plans? The current "look" of the site is adequate but tired and could do with a new design one of these years.

| | | Yeah, any new design would be almost certain to be worse than the current one, unless you had the time and interest to radically overhaul the rest of the UI. Best to leave it indefinitely, it's pretty timeless and incredibly functional.

I dunno, while I think the current design is okay - it's very, very dated now and really could use a refreshing. There are some amazing things happening with HTML 5 - anyone a guru willing to help out? Hell, I'd donate some cash if there were a professional on the site willing to do some great work at a friend rate. Maybe a small fund-raising drive to raise a few hundred bucks to pay them?

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

| | | On the whole read states thing... This may not be applicable in any way, but phpbb3 has persistent read states built into it like UER does. I know it's PHP and not ASP, but there still ought to be a way to copy the way they're doing it, no? And there are forums with much larger userbases than UER running it (presumably) without any huge issues.

| | | It occurred to me the average UER user now has less accurate control in displaying information pertinent to them than [most] any other forum on the internet. Read states is pretty much the norm today, so reducing its abilities will definitely put things at a disadvantage. It's a shame the existing code cannot be made more efficient and modernize the backbone rather than opting for a loss of usability.

| | | We're working on it. Instead of whining, why not join up the discussion in the DB forum? It's also worth noting that UER is much larger than most other online forums. There are currently 1,209,449 posts on UER. -av
