Urban Exploration kit, my interpretation of how to do it

Yes it is time for me to stop lurking and now add my two cents. I could go on about who I am and what I do and how my background lends itself to this interesting past time but, that is for another time/thread... I have been looking and reading the various posts and come up with my own ideas with what other people have brought to the table. What I have come to realize is that one's kit should really be "built" according to the level or difficulty of the expedition. Let me explain. Your main pack can be enhanced or down sized according to event or intelligence or lack thereof.

I would start off with this as the rudimentary basic/mandatory load out:
Daypack - do not use military camouflage, use civilian or LE gear
Cover story - this is the most important part of your kit, will go over it later
Notebook & pen
Camera(s)
Tripod(s)
Audio/video essentials
Water
Rations/energy bars
Multi tool
Knife, folding
Light(s)
Hand sanitizer
1st aid kit
Bug spray - seasonal
GPS/compass
Radio
Gloves
Toque - seasonal
Balaclava - seasonal
Rain Jacket
Dog/bear repellant
Smokes & matches

For "Low level entry":
Facemask
Eye protection
Latex gloves
Glow sticks
Chalk
Para cord
Duct tape

For "High level of entry":
Fence climbing tools
Knife, fixed
Binoculars
Elbow/knee pads

For "Severe breeching":
Rope
Bump helmet
Harness
Harness essentials
Barbed wire gloves

All of this can fit into a pack that you can easily carry around. If your pack is too small, one can piggy back an accessory bag to it to carry the different levels of gear. So hopefully you get the idea. Depending on the level of difficulty you can upsize your gear to meet your needs. Good thing is, for those who are into emergency preparedness, this kit closely mimics your needs and if packed in a vehicle, you can keep it there for peace of mind as well as for your hobby. In most cases your basic and your low level can be packed as one. It is when you decide to commit to use your "High" and "Severe" gear that you can strap it on and go about your business.

If you have any questions, comments, queries... you know what to do. I will do another post that may explain the reasoning for some of the gear and methodology in the post titled ROE, the Rules of Engagement

Edited for content...

Not a bad loadout on the light end, although the wrecking gear will get you in trouble on UER and if you get caught with it then you're fucked. There are often better ways in, but not always. Some places call for clever use of a bottle jack, others require subtlety. If you rip and pry in places that are watched, you'll make it harder to come back.

A pretty good list although for me I take only what I can fit in pockets or a jacket for 90% of my explorations... this does include most of what I would consider the 'essentials' listed above.

Random folks on the street are more likely to remember the guy that looks like he is hiking the Appalachian trail. LEO is also less likely to be forgiving if they open up your bag and it's packed for world war III.

I feel like the same goes for elaborate costumes/outfits. As soon as suspicions start to mount you look a whole lot shadier dressed like a utility worker when you are actually not one.

I never bring a backpack, but that's just me. I don't want anybody to identify me as a Canadian.

Good luck. If you're caught, I hope your cover story still stands when you have that much gear on you.

I usually bring a lot of gear too, but I park somewhere inconspicuous and leave what I don't need inside my vehicle.
