| | | My realtor sent me this photo of Lawton Oklahoma back in it's day. He said today the place is pretty much a "ghost town". He described the court house as being turned into some kind of a mall, that may be out of business now. Besides that everything in town is supposed to be empty including a hospital! If anyone has current pictures in or near this town, please add to this thread. I am heading out that way soon, so I will add mine also.....

| | | Doesn't Lawton have like 100k people living in it? I didn't know that was considered a ghost town.

| | | It's not a ghost town. Lawton has an army base, a college, and a wildlife refuge. The population may be lower than it was (it was one of the most populated cities) but it's not a ghost town. I'm sure you could find some interesting abandoned places there though!

| | | There are a large number of abandoned places in Lawton, although it is far from a ghost town.. Off the top of my head there is a gutted Kmart, abandoned bowling alley, and an abandoned grain silo building. Nothing too spectacular though and most is in fairly populated areas... The Kmart is missing its roof and part of the front of the building from what I could see. Gould and Hollis have a decent amount of abandonments, most with doors wide open still, although I have yet to poke in any of them. Rather neat old towns but pretty small.

| | | I remember my parents telling me about the old "TradeMart" there in Lawton...is it possible the gutted K-Mart is the same building where that was located? I believe they said it was on Cache Rd.

| | | There's a K Mart right off of Cache next to an IHop, but it's still open. I actually went there earlier this year. It was stuck in the 90's. If there's any other K Mart there, I have no idea!
