Having a look around Fort Miley

Fort Miley in San Francisco, there was the half that's much like a picnic area, but on the other side of the VA hospital there were some more interesting things to see.

This light was so cool/big, I wanted to take it home, but carrying it on a bike wouldn't really work.

The dial on the outside of the look out building.

A great collection of trash cans.

I think this was the remnants of some sort of float.

I kept my distance when I noticed the radioactive warning.

Some good compositions. A few are weaker, like the outhouse and the radioactive warning sign, but I can't blame you for not wanting to stay there long. I like the statue, though it would've been better if you captured the base.

Trivia about that former Mortar Battery (built around 1900 & operational until part way thru WW-II): In the early 1950s the grounds were an Air Force Reserve center, and an officer converted one of the mortar battery casemates into an Emergency Operations Center.

When I was last there poking around, there wasn't an NPS maintenance dude there to let me in & look for remains of the EOC-use, but I'll get back soon.

There are numerous other old coast-defense related sites on Fort Miley, but lots of stuff was removed when the original VA Hospital was built in the 1930s.

I'm going to second the sentiment about some nice and some weaker compositions. It looks like you tried to do some symmetrical shots, I think I would like to see them more in tune with rule of thirds. For instance, I would like to see the trash cans with a wider angle, and in the bottom left corner. Maybe that's an impossible shot, I don't know. Just my .02

By NRC law & regs. the Warning Radioactive sign has to be posted at the boundary line of restricted area which is less the 2 mR/hr. You pick up more from airline travel.
