UE in Video Games

We've had UE in movies, but the new Tomb Raider game (which is just CHOCK FULL of abandoned modern buildings and sewers and churches and stuff at the beginning) made me think of which games have a UE flavour.
So I vote for the Tomb Raider series, and of course PoP. Anyone else?

The game with the best UE feel to it is without a doubt Doom. I have "Ultimate Doom". I must have only been 11 when I bought it. The levels are amazing... the game was very very well made. There is a lot to explore, and a lot of secrets in the levels.

Silent Hill 2 has some great abandoned building and industrial scenes. Well except for the occasional demonic monster.

Who knows what places lurk abandoned to the minds of men?...The Shadow knows...MUHAAAA HAAA HAAA HAA!

Most survival horrors such as the Resident Evil games and Fatal Frame have all got good abandoned buildings and houses in them. But I have to say that the Silent Hill games are my favorite by far.

MAFIA has a level in wich you have to climb to the watch tower of an abandon prison, the level is beautifully deatailed. The game I would nominate is S.T.A.L.K.E.R wich takes place in Chernobyl Ukraine, the site of the nuclear melt down. Its an entire abandon city.

Duke Nukem 3d was one of the first games I ever played that was chock full o' abandoned buildings. Unless of course you count the pig cops and other bad guys, but anyway....

The X-COM series of games had great turn-based 3D squad-level combat in various urban, rural and alien settings. Of all the games I've ever played, these were the only ones that ever really gave me the creeps, and the closest feeling to what it feels like exploring a place for the first time and not knowing what's going to be around the next corner.

Fallout Series, post-apoc kinda has abandoned stuff by default

Half Life, takes place in a mostly abandoned Area 51 type complex

When I play Sim City, all the houses are abandoned...

Elevator Action is the best game ever. But I'd say the most UE-esque game I've ever played is Thief II. Dodging security guards and cameras while carefully exploring mechanical rooms, attics and rooftops, church steeples, steam tunnels, storm drains and secret areas of all types. The need to steal stuff and kill people is the only bummer. It would be nice to play a variant where your only goal was to get neat screen shots.

There's a drain outfall somewhere in the GTA Vice City world that Max Action has spent considerable time trying to explore. He said he had to track down a raft and spend all kinds of time getting it over to the drain, just to have the pipe dead-end just past where you can see from the outside.

Adventure/Zork/Cavequest were the original UE games, that's where "Vadding" came from.

In GTA3 (I think) you can go down the subway tunnel and walk to the next stop along the tracks, I never was able to get up on the sidewalk and I failed to blow up the train with my rocket launcher.

Max Paine, Silent Hill 1/2, Halflife, and Counterstrike are some of my favorite UE-related games, I usually end up getting shot first on any new maps since I'm too busy checking out the hidden areas.

Turn off the internet and go play outside.
