nel58's Site
welcome to my world
Who am I ?

My name is nel58....nel is the nickname that a friend (I met in Barcelona) gave me in Ibiza island in 83.
He was then the only one calling me that way so,it's in his honor that I've chosen it...as for the number
yes it's my year of birth.I live in Montréal my main language is french.

What do I do ?

I dance Flamenco, professionally for 20 years, performing and teaching.I also play piano for ballet classes.(have a degree im classical music)Long time ago I played keyboards in short life pop bands..and played string instruments in a Celtic band and circus music...

What about exploration ?

As a kid,I would always disappear somewhere to explore something;a hole ,a shack, construcion sites, uninstalled yet drains,or little ones between each side of a road, abandoned houses (there were a lot around..no camera sh**t)
My grandma had an old house with a huge creepy attick ,a 3 storeys shed and a "dirt"cellar you got through a trap door.Everything to get lost for hours pretending we were archeologists.
At school,we were pretending to be spies...hiding in storage rooms, closets while there was a class...We would hang out in an abandonned school or climbing down the pilars of a train bridge ...just to talk and be quiet..feet in the river.
That's why the most reluctant smell reminds me of big parts of my childhood...

I was evicted from my 1st appartment (in gettho McGill) because they would demolish it...We "squated" it for a couple of months, the last of wich there was no gas or electricity...
I was evicted from my 2nd appartment( in Griffintown-home of the ghost of Mary Gallagher) for the same reason.I had left things in it so regularly,I've been entering my former -now sealed- appartment by a rear window...Exploring your own place (?!) It's amazing how a house decays so fast without life !That would have been a great subject of study..the progress of abandonment. No camera..frankly I didn't think about it at that time.
Been travelling a little in Europe, encountering bunkers, abandoned mansions and castles , passing by what's left of coal mines ...falling in love with industrial structures....Having a friend talking with love about the crane he was working with....etc

And now?

I went on exploring here and then when I met TaP who informed me of this site...Great ! I thougt I was alone !
Voilà,it's a beginning of a cool adventure, and I love pictures and history and geography, architecture and I'm so glad not to be laughed at because I take pictures of rusty old pipes !!!!! And I also met ,on a location, the best exploring partner ever !
