The Urban Adventure Site

UA City World MapUA City Subway

Some time ago I went on the official tour of part of the UA City Subway. This is a very quick slap up page about the tour and pictures I took.

We examine some floor plans of the site

The disused underground platform

We descend to track level.

You start to get a feel for the size of the place.

It is still partly lit.

The locked doorway into the tunnel.

Old World War 2 messages printed on the tunnel war. This tunnel was also used as a bunker.

Old graffiti

This graffiti dates all the way back to the 1960s.

More 1960s graffiti.

Some graffiti from 1984. Note the return date for Scott.

More 1960s graffiti

A small alcove in the tunnel.

A group of people in the tunnel.

Along the tunnel were many blast locks like the one we are approaching.

Entering a blast lock.

Blast lock from the side.

It's huge

In part of the tunnel there are these big two story blast baffles.

Amazing graffiti in the tunnel. The guide's story about this was so off track I had to laugh.

And again.

This old gong was once used by the ABC to imitate the ring of Big Ben.

Trekking back

On the platform again

Standing before the big tall fence beyond which is a live rail tunnel.

The train... needs more light.

The remains of old rails can be seen inside this tunnel.

This tunnel is really quite huge

Doorway into a live tunnel

Part from an old crashed train.

Levers from an underground signal box

Automated signal box

Automated signal box on an angle.

The ground is quite gravel covered.

Descending the ladder into the lake tunnel

Climbing back into the station

Crawling around in a train that was parked down another rail tunnel.
