Rust on the rails

This rail line ran true and straight over much of its' length. It finished at a small mining town. It was active up to the 1970s. Now it awaits a new age, when the car is no longer dominant.

100 Km of dead straight track - mine to explore

The track starts here

The new replaces the old - road built straight over the old track

Hear that lonesome whistle blow

Some of the cross ties / sleepers have almost rotted away

I was able to pull out these dog spikes with hardly any effort

Abandoned rail bridge. The land owner politely refused me permission to view it closer so this is as close as I went

Trucks used to back up here and drop ore down into trains below. This line ran up until the 1970s.
Note the grooves truck tires have made in the wooden beam in the foreground.

A small rail yard from the ore loader. Note a switch unit removed on the right.

Part of a small rail yard

Note the switch still works

Overgrown tracks and a bent rail
