The Urban Adventure Site

The ones that got away:

For various reasons, usually due to the non availability of a camera or funds to take photos, I have from time to time explored some places but not taken photos. When going back later I found it impossible to get the sort of pictures I want. Some times it is also impossible to get back into places I once explored. So here are some of those places:

This does not look all that exciting... It is a small amusement park I did not get to explore due to big nasty dogs. They ran up just after this photo was taken. I was too busy jumping over a fence to take more photos.

The Pier. This is a photo taken through a mesh wire fence. Years ago I used to explore this quite often but now it is well fenced off. Besides, all the windows of this have been boarded over. I had a whole pile photos of that building but I lost them when I took my computer in for servicing and they wiped the hard drive. Most everything else was backed up onto CD.

This is part of a brickworks I have a few photos of. I swore I did take photos of this place one day but I have no idea of what happened to them. I could not sneak back into it because there were lots of builders on site. See why below:

Yep, they're tearing it down to be a new housing estate.

This brilliant building is one that really got away. Despite scouting the location I never did find a way in. It is still sitting there so maybe one day I'll sneak in.

This building would be great to sneak back into. It encompasses the tower on the left, the complex in the front and the big building with the multiplex banner on it. This was once the state police headquarters. I have snuck into it twice. It was a great building to explore and play hide and seek in. Back when I explored it we did it at night and were a bit keen not to use flashes from cameras.
In addition, I had a bad experience there after running in to another exploring group.

It is being converted into apartments, hence the sign on the front.

Some days after eyeing off a building to explore for weeks on end you turn up one day to see this. They're tearing it down.

So you take photos of the place as it goes down in front of your eyes.

Soon there's nothing but a skeleton left.

And the place is gone. Such a waste. It is why some times it is worth the risk of sneaking in to the place before it goes
