Do NOT enter drains. Read this warning!

UA City World MapRockytop. Rating:

Rockytop is a bit of a misleading name for this drain, as it appears to have a concrete top rather than natural rock. The roof is admittedly very rugged though. The drain has three separate tunnels and some nice open canal. It is badly polluted, and has a large number of red cockroaches in it.

The entrance to the drain was weird because it seemed to be in a canal that was higher than the surrounding land. It is at the wire fence here on this hill.

The canal was a bit polluted, a sign of things to come.

The size was impressive in the first two tunnels. Note the tool box in the drain.

The drain winds past a couple of factories and a car yard to this entrance, the second tunnel. The scene was pretty amazing, with the old red brick house above.

The second tunnel was also quite large.

Inside the third tunnel. This is located under a railway embankment. The entrance is quite low, and full of rubbish and debris. It gets bigger after about 50 metres.

This was the most polluted drain I saw in the City. Everything from McDonalds containers to bricks and roofing iron.

This is how the drain gets its' name, the bars and the rocky top.

The roof gets lower once the bars get concreted over.

Eventually the tunnel gets bigger. In this area the drain was infested with cockroaches.

Finally the exit becomes visible, there are many 'skylights' in the roof of the drain here.

End of the drain with a skylight visible. There were a couple of eels here, but I was unable to photograph them.

Upper end of the drain. The climb out was difficult because the fence is higher than it looks.
