Information

The Drain Dudes consist of Kova, Panic, Soneek and part time members Josh, Garfio and Con-Driak. We started to explore drains in early 1999 simply because theres not much else to do in Urbana. There are stuff all shops open after 5PM except Friday. The bus service is a bit of a rip off unless you buy a seasonal ticket. Skate ramps are good but hey they get boring after a while.

Really I think drain explorers in Urbana are all transitory. You get a sort of hump to exploration. At first youre on the bottom of the hump. Youre a scared little weird dude into something new. Cautious, scared shitless sometimes. Walking on into those drains. Ohh, its dark in there. Then you and your mates get together, get up a bit of courage and start to explore your local drains. Then you start up that hump, a bit confident, going places around your burbs just to explore drains. You reach the top of the hump and cruise there for a while as you start to get used to exploring drains. Youre confident, keen and off driving around to explore the drains in your town or city.

Then you reach saturation level. Youve explore everything around you. Theres nothing new to explore. This is when you try things like painting drain rooms or sticking up Nirvana posters to keep yourself entertained. Eventually you just fall off the hump after having explored everything so much that you look at small shiite drains and just cant be bothered exploring them anymore.

Acknowledgments:

We acknowledge that much of our initial information about Urbana drains came from the ARS web site, the Cave Men web site which now seems to be off line most of the time. While we may bag the Cave Men site a bit for the many inaccuracies we found the site to be an inspiration to us. The Cave Men have to given credit for the work that they did in bringing Urbana drains to the internet. Their internet site didnt really have much on it, which inspired us to want to see more and put all we see on the Internet so others could see everything without the need to enter drains. Locations of drains were obtained from Guy-Ds Sydney web site. The idea for the map formats came from the International Urban Adventure Site where we also downloaded a copy of their drain explorers guide.

We also acknowledge the assistance of ACTION bus service in Urbana, drivers of drain adventurers in Urbana.

Warning:

While you may notice that some of our warnings about exploring drains are tongue in cheek we would encourage you not to explore drains. Drain exploration is a dangerous activity, particularly when raining. While you might not think a drain presents many dangers there are in fact many present. Consider what would happen if you slipped over a waterfall, what would happen if you broke a bone in a drain, or if you were overcome by bad air. We strongly recommend you contend yourself with viewing drains via the internet.
