2007 World Trip - Portland - Nashville - Buffalo - London - Chernobyl / Prypiat - Europe.

In 2007 I embarked on my third round the world trip. This one was not all about Urban Exploration. I mainly just wanted to see a bit of Europe that I had not seen before. The plan was to buy a campervan and travel around Europe after having met up with some Urban Explorers in the US. In the US I was planning to attend OPEX77 being held in Buffalo USA.

Portland USA.

I flew into Portland Oregon to meet up with Agent Skelly, an Urban Explorer I have a great deal of respect for. I also managed to meet up with Deuterium who I had met the year before in OPEX 86 in Vancouver. While in Portland I took a tour of the Portland tunnels.

Nashville USA.

Nashville in Tennessee was visited to meet another Urban Explorer that I have a huge deal of respect for, Sara Bellum. Nashville was really hot that time of the year. Sara was a it distracted from her recent wedding, but we still had fun. We drove up to Knoxville to visit Ophelia, another Urban Explorer.

Buffalo USA.

Buffalo USA was the site of OPEX77. This was a gathering of Urban Explorers from across North America, and me, from Australia. I met up with many Urban Explorers and we had a great time exploring the huge amount of abandoned buildings in the city.

London UK

I love London in the UK. But I was not that keen on the prices there. I was in London to buy a van rather than to explore. I only did a small amount of exploring in London.

Kiev Ukraine.

Kiev was an obligatory stop on the way to Chernobyl and Prypiat. While I was expecting this to just be another city, it was amazing. It was a city rushing to join the western world. The city was bustling with people including some truly stunning looking women.

Chernobyl and Prypiat Ukraine.

The highlight of the trip without a doubt was the journey to the abandoned city of Prypiat and the town of Chernobyl. This former city of 50,000 people was abandoned after the Chernobyl nuclear reactor blew up on Australia day 1986. We only managed to spend a single day there, but it was a pretty full on day.

The tour was booked through Polina Kryuchkova of Advance-Tour www.kievtravel.com.ua. Tour information is here.

The tour was great. A car picked us up at the airport, the apartment was great, Prypiat and Chernobyl was great and everything but our food in Kiev was taken care of. But what was and was not included was very clear to us before hand. This tour was definetly worth the money even though it was about $800 US.

Trip Pictures.

General trip pictures from the trip. These include ones that are not UE related. Many pictures of trains, trams, planes and campervans.
