World Trip 2002 - Cincinnati

Past station number 4 the line continued straight for quite a while, before taking a gentle curve to the left and coming to station number 4. This was the largest of the four stations on the line. Trains would probably stop here, proceed down the tunnel to turn around in a 'Y' section of track and then return to this station on the outbound journey. Despite being the largest station on the line, this one did not have a great deal of features like the third station. It was still a very large underground space. Without track and trains occupying it, it was almost cathedral like. The large columns and open space made it quite atmospheric.

Jake deploys a plank over the big puddle we had to cross to reach the end of the line.

I pray we'll get out of here alive. :) Nice use of ambient light.

Approaching the last station.

End station

One of the 'quay' tracks either end of the main platforms.

Each quay track ends, making the platform layout look like a giant 'H' with tracks either side of the H and in the top and bottom.

Exit stair that has been concreted over.

Unusually there were to be exits under the tracks either side of the station as well.

Not surprisingly these tunnels were full of water and mud.

Junction of two tunnels near the end of the line.

Big vent shaft.

End of the tunnel with a large water pipe in it.

I was shown the subway by Jake. You can read more about this subway on his web site, this site and here.
