What is Urban Exploration?

To me, Urban Exploration is the exploration of buildings, areas, and tunnels, usually those within a city. Another word for it is Infiltration, or Infiltrating. Basically it means going into places that were never really meant for the general public, often this means trespassing.

Why do it? For the excitement, and to fill my curiosity, of seeing these majestic buildings on my own terms, not being guided by some tour. Many of the buildings, while now abandoned, were once industrial buildings where public access was simply not allowed.

When I explore a building, I never leave any garbage or graffiti. My motto is the old adage: "Take nothing but pictures, and leave nothing but footprints." Thanks to some friends who showed me how to do it right, I also make sure to take the right equipment, for both my safety and the safety of everyone.

Some people give Urban Exploration (UE for short) a bad name. They deface the walls, steal equipment, break windows and machinery, and generally act like real trespassers would. These people are not true explorers.

Eventually I'll have a page here that will help people get started in the UE world. For now, enjoy the expeditions section!
