Ramada Hotel -- Detroit

Location: 400 Bagley Avenue, Detroit MI.
Status: Active building with an "unused" fourth floor.
Accessibility: Quite accessible if I do say so myself.
Hazards: The fourth floor is in decrepit shape and may have "punk" kids living on it or between floors.
Interesting features: Graffiti, Goth Clubs, Abandoned Floors, and Pr0n.
Recommendation: Nifty place, do see it if you're in Detroit.

The Ramada Hotel, Detroit.
Do check out the Ramada Photo Gallery.

The Ramada hotel was not a target of our infiltration crew, as it were; rather it was what formed it. It all started when I attended a local 2600 meeting, there I met Flame0ut. Flame0ut and myself chatted for a month or so and then we went to a hackerish con, Rubi-con, as it was known back in the academy. The con was being held at the Ramada Hotel for three days. Although there was much to do at the con the hotel was calling us to peek around. So, we did. Flame0ut, a whole whack of others and myself went exploring... some found the abandoned fourth floor - - some found the PBX room. All in all there was something for everyone.

Stairwell B
Perhaps one of the most awe inspiring places in the Ramada is stairwell B.
It is a huge canvas for whoever has been spending hours, days, if not weeks there. The graffiti was done in entirely the same style and almost completely in black and white. The Graffiti in the stairwell of the Ramada is easily comparable with the stuff in the MCS. It climbs the walls of the first four flights. There is a door on the Eastern side (I think) of the building, which leads directly into this exhibit. This was usually ajar and could well have been the access point for the artist or artists responsible.
I should note that I later found out, by someone who e-mailed me, that the graffiti was put there for a Goth club, known as "City Club". Now, this is a different Goth club from the one in the basement, the Labyrinth, this is on the second floor.

The Fourth Floor

The fourth floor was discovered due to the elevators unwillingness to stop there. Of course, the only course of action was to get off on the fifth floor walk down to the fourth via the stairwell(s) and see just what this was all about. So we did. The door leading into the floor was, of course, locked. However, it was chained shut with a lock on a small chain, and there was just enough room for us to slip through. One of the first things we did was walk over to the elevators and see if we could call them. Could we ever! Unfortunately, some very ... confused (to put it nicely) man got off on the forth floor. He wandered around for a while, and then we helped him get back out. I guess somehow he thought this pitch-black floor with ruble all over was his stop. Anyhow, we found various items, which someone decided they should take. Stealing, from the homeless no less, eesh. Note, no UEC member did it!
So we looked all around and found an old bike and some other weird things. Eventually we decided to go in search of the roof.

Various other places
While running through the stairwell we heard someone yell "Stop, security," shite. We then realized it was coming through some boarded-up doors, it turned out to be another attendee of the con. Luckily this guy knew they way to the roof, so, he showed us the way and we fjeered.
We also found the PBX room and a subbasement that lead to the back of a Goth club. So, yes.
Much fun was had by all.
Per usual, many nifty photos can be found in the Ramada Photo Gallery.

P.S. Sorry about the images, they are not the best, but it was the developing!
